She was called
Candy as a child and refuses to be called that as an adult. She's 32 now.
She's lovely, but
Candis /
Candace is not a favorite.
I went to high school in the 80s with a girl whose real name was
Candice Cain. Yes, nn
Candy. She bore it with dignity.
I do not like the
Candace prn KAN-day-see. It's counter-intuitive to me. If you're going to prn the final E it makes more sense to me that the middle syllable should be a short A, not a long one: KAN-dah-see. With a long A in the middle it seems more reasonable to prn it kan-DAY-see, which I do not like at all.
I am also not a fan of
Cadence unless one of her parents is a percussionist. Just a little quirk on my part.
