I only like Candace, "CAN-dis." I don't like either Candy or Can as a nn.
I've never heard any of those other pronunciations. I suppose the more Greek appropriate ones make sense, and I do like the nn Daisy. But it's like asking me to find another way to pronounce Mary or Elizabeth. The "CAN-dis" pronunciation is permanently set in my brain.
I dislike the Candice spelling immensely. It looks as if someone can't make their mind up about naming a child Candace or Alice and smooshed the two names together.
I don't find Candace dated in the least. If it was popular, it couldn't have been *that* overly used. It still sounds fresh to me.
I dislike Cadence. It makes me think of military marching bands.
