Mine + notes (long in-depth story ahead)

Note: Sorry about no story last round. I was busy moving back from my campus to home for the rest of the summer and by the time I went back to this, you'd posted round 2. I'll definitely post stories. (the Story Congrats games help me write storylines that are in my head that I never get down otherwise) I added the story from Round 1's prompt here too.Note 2: I changed my mind about the nicknames of the King and Queen's nicknames, as well as updated their royal addresses (bolded below). And if I messed up with any of the naming rules, tell me. I assumed the variations in origin rule applied to both FNs and MNs, and that since I used at least two names from the namebank (Beata and Isobel), other names (Elain) were okay. If not, I’ll change it. I will add my 5 names of each gender after I wake up, as I got a bit carried away with writing this story and should probably go to sleep (it's 4 AM as I'm writing this).Cassandra Grace Logan

From the Royal House of Conrí
In the Empire of BlackwoodRound 1 Story: The Empire of Blackwood has been ruled by the House of Conrí for generations, the House name carrying down equally among male and female lines. His Majesty, King Finnian Caelestis, was the most recent ruler. Despite the death of his wife, Her Majesty Queen Aileas Luna after the birth of their fifth surviving child, he was a revered and beloved king as well as a fine father. No one expected so many tragedies to take place so quickly three years later. It started with the eldest son, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Declan Amadeus. The Crown Prince, who had been knighted six years previously at the age of eighteen, was on his way to a border fort with a company of soldiers for a meeting with the commander. Almost at the fort, they ran into a small raiding party. None of the raiders survived the encounter, but it was only after the small skirmish that Declan’s squire discovered his master with an arrow in his side. Though the company rushed the injured Declan to the fort, his wound was fatal.Five weeks after the news reached King Finnian in the capital Dunbar, more tragedy struck Blackwood. The four other royal children, eight-year-old Crown Princess (following Declan’s death) Aisling Serena, six-year-old twins Carys Rosalia and Gruffudd Leonius, and three-year-old Breanainn Silvius were out for a walk around the palace grounds with their nursemaid and a couple guards. They had stopped near a small river to rest when without warning, the weather changed and a great storm began. Before the nursemaid and guards could get the children away from the edge of the water, the young royals were swept away. King Finnian led a search party out immediately. Farther down the river, the search party discovered the lifeless bodies of Carys, Gruffudd, and Breanainn washed ashore. Aisling was found as well, pale and barely breathing. The young Crown Princess was brought to the chief royal physician, who tried everything in his repertoire to save her. The news that she would likely not survive the night, compounded by the deaths of his other children, caused the king to collapse fatally from a heart attack. His Royal Highness Prince Kieran Columba Rhys Ewan Oisin, the oldest child (at twenty three) of Finnian’s deceased sister and brother-in-law, had been called to the palace from the nearby port city of Ceann Ard as soon as the search party was sent out. He arrived on horseback early the next morning and was confused to find everyone kneeling in his presence, usually reserved for the ruler of Blackwood. The Prince made his way into the palace, where King Finnian’s chief advisor knelt before him and greeted him. When Kieran asked what was going on, why everyone was kneeling, the advisor told him “King Finnian and the three youngest children passed yesterday, and Crown Princess Aisling died only a few hours ago. As next in line, you are now King Kieran Columba of Blackwood. We are all here for you, Your Majesty, whatever you may need in the wake of this tragedy.”The empire slowly began recovering from so many deaths in such a short length of time. At the behest of his advisors, he was married to his beloved, eighteen-year-old Lady Bryony Aurora Eilis Linnea Isla, daughter of the Duke of Ceann Ard. The Lady Bryony had been his best friend since childhood, and the match was accepted as she was descended from one of the oldest lines in Blackwood. Her title changed upon marriage as she became Her Majesty Queen Bryony Aurora. The new royals started to build reputations as gifted, strong, and intelligent rulers. Blackwood’s people knew their empire was in good hands.Round 2 Story:Soon after the wedding, Queen Bryony became seriously ill. King Kieran and the people of Blackwood were scared for the young queen. She had a high fever and slept fitfully for most of every day for a couple weeks, only being woken to try to eat or as she needed personally. The King sat by her bedside as much as he could, holding her hand and willing her to get better. The people could see Queen Bryony’s sickness was taking a toll on the King. Everyone, especially King Kieran, was ecstatic when the Queen’s fever broke after a few weeks and she recovered. Then, two months after the sickness scare, Queen Bryony could not keep anything down no matter what. After a moment of panic, the chief royal physician realized she was not sick like before, but instead was with child. Blackwood would soon have an heir. The Queen’s body, still a bit weak from her earlier sickness, did not take to the pregnancy well. Her mind was still as sharp as ever, but she could not handle some very simple physical tasks without becoming extremely tired. When there were three months left before the birth, it was recommended that Queen Bryony remain in her bed unless absolutely necessary to move around.Thankfully, a healthy baby girl was born and the Queen’s physical health improved before long. The empire rejoiced at the birth of the heir. King Kieran and Queen Bryony took time to select her name with extreme care. A few days after her birth, Eilionoir Clara Orlaith Beata Isobel Elain, to be titled Her Royal Highness, Crown Princess Eilionoir Clara, and affectionately called Eilidh, was presented to all of Blackwood.Every name was selected with great care. Eilionoir was after King Kieran’s grandmother. Clara was from Blackwood noble tradition of selecting an ancient name, which would be included within a royal title. Orlaith was an important historical royal figure in Blackwood, and its meaning was aptly descriptive of the Crown Princess’s golden hair. Beata was chosen in regards to a tradition among Queen Bryony’s family after an ancient part of their line. Isobel had the same origins as the Queen’s middle name of Eilis, while Elain meant “fawn” in honor of King Kieran’s final middle name of Oisin, meaning “little deer”.
