King: William Charles Geoffrey Albert, King William (24)
Queen: Elisabeth Helena Ingrid Philippa, Queen Elisabeth (18)
Crowned Prince1: William Friedrich James Leopold Augustus, Crown Prince James (nb)
From the Royal House of Savoy
In the Kingdom of CaladanWilliam and Elisabeth had been married for four months when the queen found that she was with child. The kingdom of Caladan was delighted: after the untimely deaths of William's young brothers, everybody was looking forward to the arrival of the new royal prince or princess. Everybody, that is, except for William. He had just begun to acclimate to the demands and duties of being king, and now he was to be a father as well? His own relationship with his father had been nearly non-existent; he could count on one hand the number of occasions in which he had spent meaningful time with the late king.Elisabeth assured him that he was, thankfully, nothing like his father. For one thing, he was faithful -- both to his wife and to his people. For another, he was determined to be a better parent to his child than his father had been to him. William's advisors, too, tried to put his mind at ease (though they were decidedly less sentimental than Elisabeth). They argued that a child -- particularly a son -- would further legitimize William's reign in the eyes of friend and foe alike. It would strengthen the bond between Caladan and Utland, and would present new opportunities for other alliances.William was reassured, but still not completely won over. This all changed early one autumn morning, when his son -- the crown prince of Caladan -- was born. Suddenly all of his worries and anxieties were forgotten, replaced by an overwhelming love and awe at this new life he and Elisabeth had created. The healthy baby boy was christened William Friedrich, after his father and grandfather. As per Caladanean custom, however, he will not go by either name until he is king; until then, he will be called James. The people of Caladan were euphoric when they heard news of James' birth. Barely a year removed from the demise of almost the entire House of Savoy, and now already an heir to the throne! The young royal couple was the topic of every conversation; everybody saw them as the image of their kingdom's rejuvenation. Powerful families in neighboring kingdoms, recognizing Caladan's rising stock, began jockeying for positions of favor; William has already fielded over twenty offers to betroth his newborn son to daughters of royalty or nobility!Male Names: Claus/Klaus, Conrad, Constantine, Emmanuel, Gustaf/Gustav, MaximilianFemale Names: Alexia, Astrid, Benedikte, Emmanuelle, Sonja, Ulrika
