'nobyl' is somehow an Eastern European version of the English 'noble', which is of course nonsense.
For GTB's benefit: The cherno connection may be significant but we can't know that unless we know the ethnic background of the name, and as the poster thought an Eastern European origin was unlikely that similarity may be a co-incidence too.
