Depends on what you mean by catch on. I love a lot of these, and if they got so popular as to become unusable, I'd be sad (think Emma), but I would like to see a resurgence as you describe -- not every third babe named it, but people won't laugh at it, either.
Agatha - Pretty sound, and nn Aggie is so cute to me.
Ailsa - Not sure how this is prn, but the "ail" part of the spelling is slightly off-putting.
Bess - Cute, but only as a NN
Blanche - Reminds of 1. A Streecar Named Desire, 2. the saucy Golden Girl, so while I think it's an OK name, it has no appeal to me
Cora - You know how I feel about this one :D
Cornelia (nn Nell?) - Pretty enough, but I prefer Penelope nn Nell and Cordelia to Cornelia. The Corn- thing.
Glynis - I knew a Glynis for a time. I think it's charming.
Edith - Love this, especially with nn Edie
Edwina - Pretty, but nms. I could appreciate it for someone else, but I worry about nicknames. In our boys-names-on-girls obsessed culture, I think she'd become Eddie, and that would be sad. Edie or Winny would be nice with it, though.
Elsa - Love this! I think it's classic and refined sounding and a wonderful alternative to the tired (thought traditional) Elizabeth
Enid - Nice, but nms
Eugenia - Adorable. It's one of those names that I think is absolutely darling for a child but still sophisticated enough for an adult.
Frederica / Fredricka - I'm not a fan of an Fred- names, so it's not my favorite
Hester - I like Esther better
Imelda - makes me think of Marcos
Jean - Simple, pretty, feminine; what's not to like?
Joan - ditto
Muriel - This is a name I don't care for, but I'm hardpressed to explain why. It's just not a pleasing sound, I think.
Myra - ditto
Olympia - Great! But then again, I support anything vaguely related to mythology. :)
Regina - I like it, and I could see it coming back (wasn't it a character in Mean Girls?)
Renata - I like this quite a bit for look and sound, but it reminds me of a car model that I can't seem to find despite Google. Hm.
Sibyl - I think it has too many pop culture connections (even if it was spelled differently) to come back in this generation, but maybe someday.
Ursula - ditto, but I love this one. :)
Wilhelmina ("willa + mina") - I like it, but it doesn't seem like something the populace would generally embrace for some reason. Willa or Mina would be nice NNs with it.
Winifred - See Fredricka
I think they have chances. I was so caught up in explaining why I like most of them that I didn't really answer the question. Oops. Thanks for posting this, though. I've been looking for more names to add to my list, and you have just helped greatly. :)
