When your oldest was only 7 months old you found out you were pregnant. How did you feel?
At first I was stunned. Lina couldn't even walk yet and we have to now prepare for another. As the initial shock subsided I was able to get excited about a second child. I considered not telling Alex again but decided that it would be easier to deal with the possibility of a miscarriage with him rather than without him.
How did your husband feel?
Alex had to sit down. He admitted that he was worried about our financial situation and if we'd be able to cope with a fourth member of the house. But he was still very pleased.
What did the family think?
The family expressed the same fears but they continue to be supportive and are all very thrilled.
During your pregnancy your oldest senses something is wrong. They become more fussy. How do you handle this?
Her first year of life was heaven, then the brat in her came out. All I could hope for was that this was just a phase- after all, my mother said I was the same. I consoled her with what she needed: diaper change, feeding, being held, playing games. But if she was fussing for attention I would just sit where I was out of her vision and let her cry it out. She's been a lot better since then.
You also decide to quit your job (if you haven’t already). Why?
I just wasn't able to focus anymore with meeting deadlines and talking with clients. I was so upset after I made the decision, but it was for the betterment of Lina and my pregnancy. I continue to create art as a hobby since I've always found it personally satisfying.
How do you think your kids are going to get along?
I'm sure (or at least hoping) that they will get along very well.
When the baby comes it is the same gender as your oldest. Were you happy or disappointed?
Honestly, I was slightly disappointed that it was another girl. But it’s been a joy having my little baby happy and healthy.
Did the family try to help you (when you came home)?
My sister actually moved nearby and has been so helpful and supportive with her nieces.
Does your oldest like the baby?
Lina loves her sister. Although she doesn't understand that a baby is very fragile yet, but she's learning.
Also they end up sharing a room. Does this make your oldest mad?
No way, that's just another excuse to babble on and on!
Also if your first baby was fussy this one is calm/if the first was calm this one is fussy. Is that surprising?
It was definitely surprising, but like I said, my mother assured me that she went through it as well.
Your oldest does something unexpected to/with the baby. What does he/she do?
When Alex is done with the newspaper, Lina takes it, toddles over to Josie and pretends to read to her. It's the funniest thing and I watch Alex beam with pride at his little princess.
Now that you’re a SAHM what is your schedule like?
Can you say 'hectic'? Between feeding, changing, laundry, cleaning, cooking and teaching Lina new things: I barely have anytime for my art anymore! I can't wait until I can gradually pick it up again.
