During your pregnancy your oldest senses something is wrong. They become more fussy. How do you handle this? You also decide to quit your job (if you haven’t already). Why? How do you think your kids are going to get along? When the baby comes it is the same gender as your oldest. Were you happy or disappointed? Did the family try to help you (when you came home)? Does your oldest like the baby? Also they end up sharing a room. Does this make your oldest mad? Also if your first baby was fussy this one is calm/if the first was calm this one is fussy. Well, they would deal. They had before. Heinrich babbled in the bedroom as she stared at the pink line on stick. Pavarotti crooned Mozart on the stereo. The clock ticked. She tossed the stick in the trash and went back to her painting.
She told Tim when he came home. She was surprised at how he took it. He looked kind of amused. "Good," he said.
"Good?"
"Yeah." Heinrich wailed from the bedroom. They listened. It was a lonely wail that did not recall the baffling colic from his early months. "We're kind of a family now, aren't we?"
"Yes."
"Us and Nan and our own two kids. In this little house."
She was very pleased. This is what she had wanted and never expected. "Yes," she said.
Family: Tim's parents reacted predictably. "Well," his mother sighed. "Are you going to marry her?" Melissa's was more enthusiastic; Jessica ecstatic about the opportunity to be an aunt again, Victor disapproving; the grandparents pleased.
Dealing with Heinrich: In the last trimester, Heinrich became cranky and uncooperative. Tim and Melissa worked to not be disheartened; they made a point of spending more time with him, together and separately, taking long evening walks after Tim's work, even if he was very tired. It was difficult. Nancy's visits were dominated by doting on Heinrich; he called her Nanna and she spent many hours with him, reading to him, walking with him, listening to Mozart together. It was with her that he took his first independent steps, which Melissa felt with a small pang of envy.
The baby was a boy. Melissa felt a flitter of disappointment she didn't like to acknowledge; little girls had always been part of her dream, and little boys hardly ever. She took the naming much more seriously this time, which disappointed Nancy a lot; as a compromise they let Nancy choose one of the baby's names. She insisted on Wolfgang. She had gotten way into Mozart in the past year.

Shocked, and terrified. My legs were shaking as I read the pregnancy test. Then, I started to cry. I didn't want another baby, not yet, for now, Bethany was enough. I hoped that for some reason it was wrong, yet it wasn't.
How did your husband feel?
Basically the same as me. He was also shocked, and did not want another child right then. He got over it in a minute, went and got Bethany and said, "Come on! Now we'll have two of these. What more could you ask for?" I smiled a little at that, and wasn't quite as scared.
What did the family think?
They were surprised, but overjoyed. My mom was delighted at the prospect of another Granddaughter so soon.

The only way to stop Bethany from crying her eyes out was to hold her. After a day of holding her, my arms ached, and all I wanted to do was go to bed. It was not a fun experience.
You also decide to quit your job (if you haven’t already). Why?
When Bethany was 5 months old, I started working on my art more, and it was fine. A few times a wekk, I'd drop Bethany off at Thomas's dad's, then head over to the studio to work. When Marley was born, I decided I did not want to plague my in-laws with two babies, one of which was extremely fussy, (Marley) so I just decided to become a full time mom.
How do you think your kids are going to get along?
I think they'll get along great. Bethany is very quiet, and she'll do what others tell her, and she's not bossy or anything herself. I believe Marley might be bossy, even at three months, I can almost see her little mind trying to think of how she can control us.

Sorry, I missed that part!
Twist: Ryan and I were thrilled to find out that we were pregnant again so quickly. While the rest of the family thought it was a bit fast, we always wanted to have a large family quickly. Lily has been fussy since she isn't getting all the attention, but she loves the idea of being a big sister. Now that I'm not working, I have a lot more time to help her get used to the idea of another baby in the house. With two little ones at home, it seemed easier to stay home than pay someone to take care of them. I was thrilled to have Joanna join the family, and while I would like boys in the future, its nice to have the girls so close in age. Everyone has been very helpful since we got home, and Lily is convinced she has to help with everything, including singing the baby to sleep. She loves sharing her room and can't wait until Joie is older so they can play together. Joie does seem more fussy than Lily was, but Lily seems to be the Joie-whisperer, so she calms down anytime her big sister is around. Days are busy and it is a relief when Daddy gets home, but I love having lots of time with my girls!

During your pregnancy your oldest senses something is wrong. They become more fussy. How do you handle this?

I already did. I don't want some daycare worker practically raising my kid
How do you think your kids are going to get along?
We were worried that Sarah, would miss not being the center of attention

Kinda happy. I love little girls
Did the family try to help you (when you came home)?
Yes, they cooked food and my mil stayed with us for a month
Does your oldest like the baby?
Suprisingly she loves her. Only problem is that Sarah doesn't understand that the baby is not a doll
Also they end up sharing a room. Does this make your oldest mad?
No, She loves the baby and often climbs in the crib (problem for us b/c we're afraid she's going to hurt her)
Also if your first baby was fussy this one is calm/if the first was calm this one is fussy. Is that surprising?

At first I was stunned. Lina couldn't even walk yet and we have to now prepare for another. As the initial shock subsided I was able to get excited about a second child. I considered not telling Alex again but decided that it would be easier to deal with the possibility of a miscarriage with him rather than without him.
How did your husband feel?
Alex had to sit down. He admitted that he was worried about our financial situation and if we'd be able to cope with a fourth member of the house. But he was still very pleased.
What did the family think?
The family expressed the same fears but they continue to be supportive and are all very thrilled.
During your pregnancy your oldest senses something is wrong. They become more fussy. How do you handle this?
Her first year of life was heaven, then the brat in her came out. All I could hope for was that this was just a phase- after all, my mother said I was the same. I consoled her with what she needed: diaper change, feeding, being held, playing games. But if she was fussing for attention I would just sit where I was out of her vision and let her cry it out. She's been a lot better since then.

When Isabella was 7 months old I started getting sick every night at the same time, right after dinner. I later took a test and found out that I was pregnant. Addi is the most fussy little girl I've met but she loves everyone she meets and Isabella is trying to be the best big sister she can, especially now that she can walk without falling.But every night Isabella crawls up to Addi and tries to read her books to her. With 2 kids our life is hectic and I now write stories in my spare time to make extra money rather than doing it full time.

Overwhelmed. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I breathed after the doctor told me the “good” news. I was following up from a previous GYN appointment for a bladder infection. I was on birth control and antibiotics and Jon and I thought we were being careful. Wrong. “You weren’t planning for this?” the doctor asked. “Not at all,” as I shook my head.
I drove home in a daze. Two in diapers, I thought. As silly as that sounds, that’s all I could think, Two in diapers. When I got home, I tried to think of the game plan on how to tell my husband. Donnie was staying with my in-laws and at this point I was wishing I had his distraction. I guess I lost track of time while cleaning every nook and cranny in the house because I heard Jon’s card door shut outside. Crap. I forgot to pick up Donnie.
“Hey, sweetie,” he greeted me with a kiss on the porch holding our little baby. “I think you forgot something,” he grinned.
I took Donnie in my arms and looked at Jon. “I’m sorry. I got busy with cleaning and everything and I guess my phone was on silent…”
“It’s ok. Mom called me to make sure you were ok when you didn’t answer your phone. I told her you probably had it off or something. You ok?”
“We need to talk,” I said walking into the house. Jon followed but remained silent. “I spoke with the doctor today and she said that I’m, umm, pregnant …?” The statement trailed off into a question.
How did your husband feel?
He just looked at me. I can imagine his face looked exactly like mine did earlier today – bug eyed. “Wow,” he said. “Wow. Well, uh, ok then. Ok then.” He began to smile and hugged Donnie and me. This pregnancy, like the first, was here too soon. He handled it a better than I did. I was a zombie those first few hours after finding out and that night I couldn’t get him to shut up about it so that I could sleep. He was thrilled.
