I like it, but that's probably because one of my nicknames is Bessie (long story, that). :o)
As a nickname for Elisabeth, I think it's fine. However, the name does have a vaguely "cow-ish" sound to me. It is cute, though, and I think as long it's just a nickname for Elisabeth, it works well.
