Meaning & History
Dutch diminutive of Dolf, as it contains the Dutch diminutive suffix -je. This name is extremely rare as an official name on birth certificates: it is predominantly used informally, most often on young children. In Dutch children's literature, this is the name of the eponymous character of the popular book series Dolfje Weerwolfje ("Dolfje the Little Werewolf") written by Paul van Loon (b. 1955). A film based on the books was released in 2011 under the same name.
