Meaning & History
Fairly rare Dutch given name, which is probably derived from (or related to) the Dutch word bink, which is an informal (or slang) word for a tough, no-nonsense man who is afraid of no one. In that regard, the name is somewhat comparable with English masculine names such as Brick and Rock, as those are also meant to convey a certain sense of rugged masculinity. Also compare the Dutch given name Bickel.
