Of the
Royal House of Lirlan, of the kingdom of Dellorne.
When it came time for
Lara to marry, it was assumed that she would marry
Yusef of Numar. Many years ago, when Dellorne's war with Numar ended, the new Emperor of Numar, a young man named
Faiz, proposed marriage between his older half-brother and
Princess Lara. However, when
Lara met
Yusef, who traveled with a contingent of other princes from neighboring countries, she disliked him immensely. Not only was he arrogant, unlike his Emperor brother, but he was unfaithful. Even while courting
Lara, it was rumored that he was seducing every maid in the castle.
Lara tried to tell her parents this, however to no avail.
Adelia and
Lucian wanted their daughter to be happy, but also did not want to ruin a chance at peace with Numar. They said that unless
Lara could make some other agreement with the Emperor herself, she had to marry
Yusef.
Lara, a headstrong girl, was enraged by this. Not only because she didn't want to marry
Yusef, but also because she had fallen in love with one of the princes accompanying
Yusef,
Raoul of Leosa. Leosa, a country that neighbored Numar, was an ally of Dellorne, though not a particularly special one. The alliance was formed only by trade agreements.
Raoul was barely older than
Lara, and the youngest son of the
King of Leosa. Angered by her parent's ultimatum,
Lara decided that she would travel to Numar to meet with the Emperor himself. Her decision was only strengthened by
Yusef's appalling behavior.
Lara set off to Numar with
Raoul and her brother
Alastair as a chaperon. When she arrived, she demanded admittance to the Emperor and it was granted.
Lara found the young man to be polite and engaging. When she spoke to Emperor
Faiz, she told him the situation and begged him to release her from the betrothal to
Yusef.
Faiz, after hearing
Lara's tales, agreed, though insisted that there be another marriage between the two kingdoms.
Lara inquired if
Faiz had a wife, and finding out that he did not, offered her younger sister
Ria to be his wife, when she was old enough. The Emperor told
Lara he had to think about the proposal, and then proceeded to talk with
Alastair about political strategy. After speaking with
Alastair,
Faiz agreed to
Lara's agreement.
Lara,
Raoul and
Alastair returned to Dellorne. Almost as soon as they arrived,
Lara and
Raoul announced their engagement.
Adelia and
Lucian were shocked at their daughter's audacity, but agreed, since the match would help them get more trade in Leosa.
Just before
Lara and
Raoul's wedding, when a delegation from Numar had come to Dellorne to celebrate their union and to show support for
Lara's marriage, a surprise shook the royal family. Emperor
Faiz of Numar had come to Dellorne, bringing members of his family along, including his brother
Yusef and his younger sister Alini.
Alastair surprised his family by announcing he was to marry Lady Alini, the Emperor's sister. He had met her and fallen in love while visiting Numar. When he had talked with
Faiz, he had asked permission to marry her. Ultimately, this match was what convinced
Faiz to let
Lara marry
Raoul, since he himself was not sure that
Princess Ria would want to marry him.
Adelia and
Lucian were shocked they had not been told, but glad to see
Alastair happy. The alliance with Numar wasn't a bad thing either.
Lara was even more stunned but happy her brother got to marry for love as well.
After meeting
Princess Ria, Emperor
Faiz was unsure about his match and all the more glad that he had let Alini marry
Alastair. However, he realized that
Ria was still young and not nearly old enough to marry yet...
Question: I sort of arranged a potential marriage for the third
Royal child in this round, is that alright? If it's a problem, I can have fall apart the next round, but if it's fine, I'll have
Ria marry
Faiz.
