Of the Royal House of Gilain, of the kingdom of Tayel.
Love has been in the air for the Tayelan Royal children! For a year after Mira turned sixteen, Rosa and Thaddeus have been bombarded with offers for Mira's hand. As heir to the throne, as well as a beautiful and intelligent young woman, Mira was of course the most eligable young woman in the kingdom. But Rosa and Thaddeus have stuck to their original plan, determined to let Mira make her choice. They held several feasts and balls and festivals, all full of eligable and distinguised young men, just to be sure she had a good idea of what men were out there. But when she was seventeen and announced her choice, it came as no surpise to anyone that she betrothed herself to the young Duke of Anlaw, Arthur. The two had been mad about one another since they were fifteen, and they finally made their enagament official a few months before Mira's eighteenth birthday. Arthur is a popular and handsome young man, with dark red hair and eyes blue enough to rival Mira's, and her choice was universally approved.
What did come as a surprise when, a mere ten days before the wedding, Gabe announced that he was engaged as well! This was shocking, but even more shocking was the young woman--someone they had never met. Delia Irene was a beautiful and sweet girl, the daughter of merchants from Deklan, an island nation to the west across the sea. Her parents, merchants in the fine pottery and glassware Deklan is famous for, provided these things to the palace, which is how Gabe met her. Unbeknownst to anyone, the two had fallen in love and Gabe had proposed. The family quite like Delia, who is intelligent and kind-hearted, but Rosa can't help being a little worried that the marriage of a prince to a Deklani commoner may not go over well with the noblity, who had been parading their daughters for Gabe since he turned fifteen.
Lily is beginning to turn quite a few heads we well, young as she is. Undisputedly the most beautiful girl of her age at court, she is uncommonly graceful and intelligent for a girl of fourteen. Her dark hair and wide blue eyes have played havoc with the boys around her age, and Rosa and Thaddeus are already receiving hints about future matches for her as well, which they quash politely. Lily, for her part, is not concerned with the attention from boys. She of course has noticed--nothing has ever slipped past her--but she is stillt he same Lily, moreconcerned with music and stories and her studies and her friends. Rosa and Thaddeus are confident that she will make a great diplomat one day just noticing how she handles all the boys around her.
Gwen and Remus are just beginning to notice the opposite sex as well, and Gwen especially has become a bit of a flirt. Though considered less attractive than Lily, she is still a pretty girl, and her boldness and good humor have earned her admirers. Her ability to best a boy on the archery field or in a horse race and still have him smitten with her is something people can't help but admire. Remus, far less bold than his twin, is nonetheless considered quite handsome, and girls find his slightly taciturn manner interesting. To Rosa and Thaddeus's surprise, their quiet and serious son has turned out to be quite a charmer. He always seems to know the right thing to say and a million sweet or funny or charming things to do for a girl, and he has turned into an excellent poet. They predict that neither of their twins will have any trouble finding spouses who adore them when the time comes. They are just glad that Nico and Viva (small for her age but otherwise seemingly unaffected by her early birth) are still their little ones for a few years more, concerned with playing and lessons and pets and not romance.
