In the Empire of Irsale
Shortly after Maya was born, David's sister Eve married King Charles of England.
King Charles, or Chuck, as he told the melech and malka was visiting the faraway empire on business. Irsale and Enwascnoir (his kingdom) were planning on becoming trading partners (since Irsale's neighbors aren't friendly and Enwascnoir conquered all of hers). One day while being led around the Palace grounds (by the young and ambitious Nesicha Sarah), they ran into Eve. Eve had no royal title, but she, her dad, and brother all lived on Royal grounds, per request of Avi. Chuck was taken by Eve, as much as she was taken with him, and when he left to return to Enwascnoir, she went along with him.
David, Avi, Omer, and Michael didn't hear back from their sister and daughter until this year, when she wrote to them that she was pregnant with her second child and wished to return and see her beloved family. Avi was just glad that she was coming back, but David was mad. How dare she leave the empire for such a long time and then contact them?
Eve wanted to come back to the empire, just until her baby was born. She felt the doctors in Irsale were better than the ones in the Kingdom that she was now the queen of. Her elder daughter had nearly been killed during her birth. Even though much of the untitled royal family was mad at her, Avi arranged for her sister-in-law and neice to come spend the remainder of her pregnancy in Irsale.
Eve and Adi arrived about three months before her baby was due. After a few weeks they settled into a routine, with Adi playing with her cousins Maya, Dan, and Sarah everyday. In the mean time Avi was also pregnant.
About two months before her baby was to be born, Eve went into labor. David was by her side, but the doctors refused to let Avi into the room, claiming it would cause her too much stress. This angered Avi, but she settled this anger by taking the children to a nearby village, to see some farm animals. Maya, Dan, and Adi enjoyed it, but Sarah didn't because she actually understood what was going on (or had a basic idea).
Eve died during labor, and the little baby girl almost did too. King Chuck was supposed to arrive in the Empire by the end of the month, so their was no reason to send a messenger.
The next few days were hard on the family. Avi, David, and the children grieved their aunt, mother, and sister(-in-law). The baby, called Yardena after the river that flowed through the land in which she and her mother had been born in, was cared for by a doctor, and had a nurse with her at all times.
Once Chuck arrived, he was saddened that his wife died, but glad that the baby was okay. Until he found out the baby was a girl, that is. Then he made plans to leave the country. The doctors insisted that the girls were not ready to move, Yarden because of her health, and Adi because of her emotional state. When Chuck stated that he never planned on taking the girls with him, Avi was furious. She banished him from the empire. Then and there she and David decided to take the girls under her wing and raise them as if they were her own.
Avi was really upset about the fact that her nieces were abandoned. David was upset that his beloved sister could fall for such a vile man and even more so that a man of his equal status could just abandon his children without a second thought.
When the news was announced, everyone in the empire was angry. Most people wanted to cut off all relations with Emwascnoir. A few days after the news got out, the newest Nesicha was born. Talia's birth was kept on the down-low, as the empire was still teeming with anger, but when she was a month old her birth was announced to the whole empire and several months later the whole royal family took a trip through the country, so everyone could see how good they were getting along. Everyone was thrilled that their was a new nesicha.
(Wouldn't my Yardena be older than my Talia?)
