Adriano is not usually an insensitive man. However, when I'm still carrying extra pregnancy weight, can't exercise often, my hormones are gone wild and I feel plain gross, it would be reassuring to hear 'You look nice' in response to me being insecure. Or heck, I'd settle for 'Fear not, I still find you attractive.'
Not 'You're huge! Look at you!' Because I'm getting that from everybody else - friends, coworkers, acquaintances, the bus driver - and well, I need to hear something different from him. And I shouldn't have to break down crying in order to elicit it.
He thought I was overreacting. Maybe I was, but for the love of God, I'm hormonal! Could you please keep your stupid comments on my weight to yourself?
This morning he finally came to his senses and apologised.
