"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: Magnolia is so cute, and I really like Nola.
You Think: Interesting name, but I wouldn't be brave enough to use it."This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Hi, Ignatius
You Think: Yuck, Ignatius is so pompous and Iggy sounds like a dog's name."This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: Hello, Juniper.
You Think: Agnes is too old-ladyish, but Juniper could work."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Hi Horatio.
You Think: Yuck! I seriously dislike the "whore" sound of Horatio and that is a terrible spelling of Colby."These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Hi kids.
You Think: I like Joachim better with an 'n', Edgar is old, but okay. Amias is terrible, but Quincy is okay. I despise Agnes and don't care for Roberta.

Kolbe is not a variation of Colby. This is something I should probably have mentioned. It's pronunced about like "KOW-bah" and is a Polish surname. I would use it after St. Maximilian Kolbe, who died in Auschwitz to save another man's life.(A lot of my favourite names are after saints.)Array

I've done research on the name...Or rather, someone else did research on it for me (for which I am very grateful) while I also did research, and as far as we can tell, pronuncing it like Colby isn't the proper Polish pronunciation. If a Pole wants to correct me, please do so. It's one of my favourite names, and I always appreciate new info.Array
