You Say / You Think
We haven't played one in a while, so here's some names to ponder. Please be at least a little specific in what you think--"Ewww" doesn't say very much about what's wrong with a name. ;)"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."

You Think: "This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say:
You Think: "This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: Hi Magnolia
You Think: Pretty name, ugly nickname. "This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Hello Ignatius
You Think: Iggy Pop, drugged out rocker... really not liking it"This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: Hey Juniper
You Think: Juniper is very pretty, Agnes is ugly but it works."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Hello Horatio
You Think: Horatio Hornblower. nifty. I read the Saint thing too, though without explaination I'd be unsure of pronunciation. "These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: What a lovely name. I love Magnolia's!
You Think: Lovely. But I would of called her Maggie."This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Very interesting and unusual.
You Think: Ignatius? Well at least Iggy is cute. "This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: I don't believe I've ever met a Juniper.
You Think: Juniper... Hmm I kind of like it."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: His name suits him.
You Think: Horatio is alright but why Kolbe?"These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Their names complement eachother well.
You Think: Amias and Agnes are a little too close sounding but otherwise interesting names.

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: Magnolia is so cute, and I really like Nola.
You Think: Interesting name, but I wouldn't be brave enough to use it."This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Hi, Ignatius
You Think: Yuck, Ignatius is so pompous and Iggy sounds like a dog's name."This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: Hello, Juniper.
You Think: Agnes is too old-ladyish, but Juniper could work."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Hi Horatio.
You Think: Yuck! I seriously dislike the "whore" sound of Horatio and that is a terrible spelling of Colby."These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Hi kids.
You Think: I like Joachim better with an 'n', Edgar is old, but okay. Amias is terrible, but Quincy is okay. I despise Agnes and don't care for Roberta.

Kolbe is not a variation of Colby. This is something I should probably have mentioned. It's pronunced about like "KOW-bah" and is a Polish surname. I would use it after St. Maximilian Kolbe, who died in Auschwitz to save another man's life.(A lot of my favourite names are after saints.)Array

He prn'd it like Colby though...

I've done research on the name...Or rather, someone else did research on it for me (for which I am very grateful) while I also did research, and as far as we can tell, pronuncing it like Colby isn't the proper Polish pronunciation. If a Pole wants to correct me, please do so. It's one of my favourite names, and I always appreciate new info.Array

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: I probably wouldn't comment on the name at all, just one how sweet the girl was or something, but possibly say something about how original it was.
You Think: Magnolia? It does have an interesting sound I guess, but still very musty. Nola is a horrid old-lady sound. At least call her Maggie and let her grow into whether on not to use Magnolia. Jean is so tack-on from the 50s (or earlier!)"This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Wouldn't comment on the name at all.
You Think: YUCK! Iggy reminds me of Iggy Pop or of David Bowie (though that was actually Ziggy wasn't it?). Ignatius is WAY too much name to handle."This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: No comment
You Think: Juniper sounds like a cat name or something, and Agnes is too old!"This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: If pressed I'd say something nice about Kolbe.
You Think: Horatio? For a sweet little boy?"These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Nothing to say! Man.
You Think: I actually like Edgar as a mn. Amias Quincy is cool, but I'm not sure of everyday use. The others are just bad.

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: Hi Nola!
You Think: Magnolia is pretty, but I prefer the nn Maggie."This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Hi!
You Think: I don't think I could bring myself to call him Iggy."This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: Hello...
You Think: Well...Juniper is better than some tree names I suppose. I really hate the name Agnes though."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Hello Horatio.
You Think: I like Horatio, but I can really only see it as a character name."These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Hi, Hi, and Hi!
You Think: Joachim Edgar is very cute. Amias Quincy is kinda cute as well. Agnes Roberta is not very attractive imho.

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: What a lovely name.
You Think: I've never thought of Nola as a nn for Magnolia. Very nice."This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Iggy is such a sweet nickname!
You Think: I love Ignatius because of Confederacy of Dunces. Ray doesn't seem to go with it though. "This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: I love your name.
You Think: Don't know what to think about Juniper. But I adore Agnes. "This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: What a name!
You Think: I dislike both Horation and Kolbe for the 'o' sounds in both. And Horatio is too close to Ignatius for me. "These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: How sophisticated!
You Think: The names are not really my style, but I still like them. Isn't Juniper's middle name Agnes, though? That's my only quip.

You Say: Hi, Nola
You Think: Maggie is much cuter"This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: What an antiquated name
You Think: Iggy makes me think of a swamp. Nate?"This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: What a sweet name!
You Think: LOVE IT!!"This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Does he have a nickname?
You Think: Please, please have a nickname"These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
You Say: Hi, kids! What nice names!
You Think: Is Amaias Quincy a girl or a boy? Otherwise, sweet.

"This is our daughter, Magnolia Jean. We call her Nola."
You Say: That's so pretty!
You Think: I like Magnolia...Jean is boring...Nola sounds too much like Nolan"This is our son, Ignatius Ray. He goes by Iggy."
You Say: Wow, that's a cool name!
You Think: Poor kid...Ignatius?"This is our daughter, Juniper Agnes."
You Say: Oh, that's so pretty!
You Think: Juniper is ok...but Agnes..."This is our son, Horatio Kolbe."
You Say: Wow, that is so cool!
You Think: Kinda weird, but kinda like it"These are our triplets, Joachim Edgar, Amias Quincy, and Agnes Roberta."
