I know that in
France Dominique was often given to boys and girls born on
Sunday. Now it's a tad outdated... There's a French word close to this name: "dominical": from
Sunday, or happening on
Sunday. For example "un repas dominical" = "a meal eaten on
Sunday".

Sunday is "dimanche", or "jour du Seigneur" ("day of God, of the Lord").
