Nanes you won't use/Dislike
I'm interested in people's name lists
Replies
I like the name Nathaniel but would never use due to an ex. Other ex’s names I would consider, just that particular one lol.
It’s more efficient to describe categories of names I wouldn’t use: names *close* family or friends used, spellings that are too unique (as someone with an uncommon spelling of my name), names with an awful meaning/connotation/association, last names, nicknames, masculine names on girls, country/city names, names that are plain made up, profession names, and royal title names. Some names that fall into the category, I might like but for one reason or another just wouldn’t use.
I would avoid super popular names but with the right circumstances I would use.
Names off the top of my head I just don’t like: Gretchen, Bertha, Edith, Ethel, Cordelia, Penelope, Gary, Craig, Chad

Even if I like a name, if its too popular I'm not likely to use it. Here are some common/popular ones that I like but would not use, as a quick example: Alice, Bethany, Georgia, Amelia, Chloe, Zoe, Hayden, Mason, Lucas, Miles, Jared, Max, Maximilian, etc.
Names I actually don't like, with popularity not playing a role in my refusal to use them:
Brooklyn
Jazzlyn
Maisie
Gabrielle
Ethel
Cookie
Fallon
Wrenley
Ainsley
Remy
Sade
Averill
Bellamy
Corbin
Donald
Alfred
Doctor
Pope
Friend
Friendless
Bart
Bert
etc..

There are so many more names in general that I wouldn't use than names I would. I mean, I'm not going to use a name from a culture I know nothing about and can't pronounce or spell or something so very unfamiliar. I generally don't like creative spellings and the "made-up" names either. Looking at the names in my country's (United States) top 150 lists, I wouldn't use:
Maverick
Jaxon / Jaxson
Axel
Declan
Ryder
Kingston
Legend
George
Zion
Luis
Archer
Enzo
Thiago
Theo
Ayden
Calvin
Braxton
Atlas
Eleanor
Nora
Madison
Nova
Isla
Addison
Ivy
Everly
Kinsley
Brooklyn
Alice
Genesis
Nevaeh
Cora
Piper
Everleigh
Samantha
Iris
Ayla
Eloise
Hadley
Parker
Arya
Eden
Remi
Reagan
Juniper
Sloane
Reese
I don't hate all of them, but I wouldn't use them for various different reasons.

Personally, I don’t usually like to share the names I don’t like. As, my opinions can definitely change over time. Some of the names on my PNL are names that I used to despise (but absolutely love now). However, like everyone, I also have things I don’t like.
Firstly, I don’t like using an every day word as a name. I’ve once met someone named Laundry before. As someone literally named “Wheel Barrow,” take it from me…please. Unless the word has a huge significance to you/means something special, just don’t. Secondly, I don’t like when people use a religious title as a name. Thirdly, I’m not a fan of using variants of place names (I.e., Irelyn/Irelynn/Irelynne. If you’re going to name someone after Ireland, why not fully embrace it? I’m not talking about Erin, by the way.)
Other names I don’t like:
Abcde
Boomquifa
Grogda
Quetzal
Archibald
Elwood
Norbert
Gordon
Bellamy
Walter
Atlee
Eustace
Abner
Fisher
Ulysses
Phyllis
Davin
Dexter
Dixie
Thatcher
Andromeda
Ophelia
Colby
Percival (I’m kind of on the fence about this one. I think Percy is kind of cute, actually! Val could be another cute nickname. I don’t know. If you can, help me like this name?)
