Twin girls with boy nicknames
I'm reading a book with sisters named Samantha and Charlotte called Sam and Charlie. Their mom is Harriet but publishes under Harry to avoid discrimination based on sex. She wanted her daughters to be able to use male names if necessary.
What would you pick if you had to give twin girls traditional feminine names but they had to go by traditionally masculine nicknames?
I think I'd pick Harriet and Georgiana called Harry and Georgie.

I think I'd use Thomasin and Frances, and call them Tom and Frank/Frankie.
Probably Charlotte “Charlie” and Harriet “Harry”, but not sure if I like them together - the formal names’ endings are too similar. Josephine “Jo / Joey” with Charlotte “Charlie” then.
I also like Wilhelmina “Will”, Lucinda “Luke / Luca”, Andraste “Andy”, Kailani “Kai”, Marsaili “Mars” (last two not so traditional).

I'm a Charlotte, and uses Charlie online, so I'm all set there, for a parental figure.
Anyway, I'd pick Alexandra and Josephine, called Alex and Joey.
But also:
Francesca (Frankie)
Maxine (Max)
Danielle (Danny)
Nicole (Nicky)
Natasha / Natalie (Nat)
Olivia (Ollie)
Raylene (Ray)
Samantha (Sam)
Georgina (Georgie)
Stephanie, (Stevie)
Theodora (Theo)

Hmm... Veronica nn Ronnie and Dorothy nn Theo, I guess?
It's an interesting idea! These came to mind:
Dorothy and Frances, "Theo and Frankie" - my choice
Sibylla and Ursula, "Billy and Sully"
Elizabeth and Margaret, "Eli and Rhett"
Josephine and Leonora, "Joey and Leo"
Georgia and Maxine, "Georgie and Max"

Today, Leopoldine and Timothea called Leo and Timmie...? Weird
edit No. Leo and Frankie from Francine. Obvs

I will play the game, but I pathologically need to point out that feeling like you have to perform or adopt a different gender in order to fit in, get ahead or trick people into thinking you’re worthy is wrong and people should be redirecting that energy into making a space for their true self in society.
That being said,
Francesca (Frankie) and Lavinia (Vinnie).

yes, and also ...
It's something that's been done to death and beyond in fiction.

Lol, it's a book set in the past when you did what you had to do. I'm not making an argument for anything here, merely briefly summarizing a plot point.
I genuinely like boy nicknames for girls. I think it's fun.
