Re: Thoughts on the name..
Well, my first thought is that it isn’t a name, it’s a word.
My second thought is that it’s an inherently classist term, which is offputting. It makes me wonder if the parents wish for the “good old days” of exploiting indentured servants.
My third thought, kind of related to the second, is how the term “gentrification” has become code for wealthy white people moving into a neighbourhood previously inhabited by people of colour and taking over by pricing them out of the neighbourhood, changing zoning and other shady tactics.
