I wouldn't think of penises any more than I do when I meet a guy named
Peter, tbh.
Willie would make me think of
Willie Nelson first.
And
Willie Mays and
Willy Wonka.
It's like the name
Dick - if I find it as the name of a person, it first makes me think of
Dick Clark and
Dick Button and
Dick Van Dyke.
So, I guess that dates me!
It's just a name to me, on some level. I guess it is also an 'older black man' & baseball star name, and for some reason - maybe only
Nelson, but it seems like there's more than that? - on a white guy I'd vaguely associate it with marijuana. Like it's playful and theatrically hippy. In a brassy way.
I only think of the slang after recognizing the name - and I feel kinda like an idiot for thinking of it, too.
I understand why people who use the slang don't find any appeal in using them as names - I don't either - but I think that to say that they are terrible unfortunate names, for the people who have them, because of the slang, is silly and kinda disrespectful.
