I like this version of
Alice. It was sometimes used in the Middle Ages, so has authenticity.
Bertrand Russell's American wife was called
Alys, which is how I first encountered this spelling, and I've liked it ever since.
Alice makes me think "woodlice".
Alys is prettier.
