I like this version of Alice. It was sometimes used in the Middle Ages, so has authenticity. Bertrand Russell's American wife was called Alys, which is how I first encountered this spelling, and I've liked it ever since.
Alice makes me think "woodlice". Alys is prettier.

I agree when I see Alice, all I see is "a lice" as in lice bugs that live in hair
