Would 340 names do?
in reply to a message by Ciarda Rayne
I went through every single name on BtN, and added a few of my own. Many are nns, which I tend to dislike as fns, but included anyway. I divided the list into female, male, and unisex; I also added a personal comment here and there.

OMG, Thank you so much Miranda, it's going to take me a while to go through all of those. Somehow I knew I could count on you for suggestions! ;)

Okay, the ones I like
Okay went through all of them, and here are the ones I like:
MIA
AVA – I like it and think it goes well with Mia, however its so popular right now.
AYA – This used to be a huge favorite of mine
AYN – Had forgotten about this one, I actually like it, mostly because I love Ayn Rand.
EVA
GIA – Like it, but its so similar to Mia
IVY – Like, but more as a nn
LIV – Love it, but I just remembered that Liv Tyler’s sister is named Mia
LUX
MAI
PRU – Does it sound too much like Prune?
RAE – Also a friend of mine’s mn
RUE – Like this mostly because I named my cat Roux, haha
TRU
ZAN – I like this one, however I have an ex-friend that would insist I used it because of Zhaan from Farscape which she is obsessed with.
ZOË – An old favorite of mine
ARI
ASH
DAX – Didn’t realize it was used in ST, however I do like it and had forgotten about it previously
DOM – I considered this one too, since I like Dominic, but of course I crossed it off my list due to its association with Dominatrix.
IAN
KAI
LEX – Might be too nicknamey
LUC
TAI
TAL – Does it sound too much like Towel?
TYR

Believe me, it took me some time to go through all the database! It didn't help that I had to break it up into two sessions because of a school lesson. But I was happy to do it. :-)
Pru - No, it doesn't remind me of "prune". I prefer Prue actually, as it looks more complete, but I was sticking to three letters
Mai - I don't think this is pronounced like May, but I don't know how to pronounce it properly either
Tal - Nope, doesn't remind me of "towel". I pronounce it TAL, like Al with a T. I forgot, but this is also a ST name, albeit one used for a couple of rather minor/one-episode characters so the connection isn't really strong (hence why I forgot). One was a Bajoran woman

I prefer Prue as well.
I pronounce Mai, as My, but not sure if its correct
And I pronounce Tal the same way, however other people may not.
Thanks again Miranda!
BTW, How would you pronounce Taj, I just found out that Liv & Mia have a brother named that. As well as a sister named Chelsea.

I know exactly how I would pronounce it, but I'm not sure how to write it. You know how you say Taj Mahal? That's the way I say Taj.
"Taj Mahal" probably means "Crown of the Palace" (literally, "Crown Palace"). Taj is the word meaning "Crown".
There's an alternate theory, but I'll let Wikipedia's article explain it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal. Be sure to follow the link to Mumtaz Mahal's bio for more on the lady who inspired the Taj Mahal.

I didn't even think of Taj Mahal, haha. But that's how I was pronouncing it anyhow. I was debating if it was correct though since sometimes j's are pronounced as i's, so I thought it might be similar to Tai.
Yes Æ is a letter. Albeit only Danish and old norse.
Ps: Æ is placed right after the letter Z in the alphabet btw.
Not my fault. Blame Word's alphabetisation. :-p
