Mia & other 3 Letter names ...
I was thinking of 3 letter names yesterday. Particularly because my favorite name is Mia, and I was thinking of other short names to go with it as a sibset (although I'm not saying I will only use 3 letter names in the future)
These were a few that I came up with that I like:
Ava or Eva
Aya
Gia
Liv
Rue
Tru
Zoe
Ash
Ian
Kai
Lex
Tyr
Zen
Zev
WDYT? And I'd love to hear suggestions!

Would 340 names do?
I went through every single name on BtN, and added a few of my own. Many are nns, which I tend to dislike as fns, but included anyway. I divided the list into female, male, and unisex; I also added a personal comment here and there.
Ada
Adi
Agi
Ami ("water" in Japanese, pr. AH-mee)
Amy
Ana
Ane
Ann
Asa
Ase
Ava
Aya
Ayn
Ayo
Bea
Bee
Bia – Greek myth name
Chi
Cho
Cuc
Dea – Fem. Deo
Deb
Dot
Dua – Could also be fem. Duo
Ece
Eir
Emi
Ena
Era
Esi
Eva
Eve
Fay / Fae
Gay / Gae
Gia
Gro
Gry
Gul – Unfortunately reminds me of the Star Trek Cardassian equivalent term for a starship captain
Hel – Norse goddess of the underworlds, daughter of Loki. We derive our word "hell" from her name
Hoa
Hue
Ida
Ide
Ife
Ige
Ila
Ili
Iva
Ima

OMG, Thank you so much Miranda, it's going to take me a while to go through all of those. Somehow I knew I could count on you for suggestions! ;)

Okay, the ones I like
Okay went through all of them, and here are the ones I like:
MIA
AVA – I like it and think it goes well with Mia, however its so popular right now.
AYA – This used to be a huge favorite of mine
AYN – Had forgotten about this one, I actually like it, mostly because I love Ayn Rand.
EVA
GIA – Like it, but its so similar to Mia
IVY – Like, but more as a nn
LIV – Love it, but I just remembered that Liv Tyler’s sister is named Mia
LUX
MAI
PRU – Does it sound too much like Prune?
RAE – Also a friend of mine’s mn
RUE – Like this mostly because I named my cat Roux, haha
TRU
ZAN – I like this one, however I have an ex-friend that would insist I used it because of Zhaan from Farscape which she is obsessed with.
ZOË – An old favorite of mine
ARI
ASH
DAX – Didn’t realize it was used in ST, however I do like it and had forgotten about it previously
DOM – I considered this one too, since I like Dominic, but of course I crossed it off my list due to its association with Dominatrix.
IAN
KAI
LEX – Might be too nicknamey
LUC
TAI
TAL – Does it sound too much like Towel?
TYR
ZEN
ZEV

Believe me, it took me some time to go through all the database! It didn't help that I had to break it up into two sessions because of a school lesson. But I was happy to do it. :-)
Pru - No, it doesn't remind me of "prune". I prefer Prue actually, as it looks more complete, but I was sticking to three letters
Mai - I don't think this is pronounced like May, but I don't know how to pronounce it properly either
Tal - Nope, doesn't remind me of "towel". I pronounce it TAL, like Al with a T. I forgot, but this is also a ST name, albeit one used for a couple of rather minor/one-episode characters so the connection isn't really strong (hence why I forgot). One was a Bajoran woman

I prefer Prue as well.
I pronounce Mai, as My, but not sure if its correct
And I pronounce Tal the same way, however other people may not.
Thanks again Miranda!
BTW, How would you pronounce Taj, I just found out that Liv & Mia have a brother named that. As well as a sister named Chelsea.

I know exactly how I would pronounce it, but I'm not sure how to write it. You know how you say Taj Mahal? That's the way I say Taj.
"Taj Mahal" probably means "Crown of the Palace" (literally, "Crown Palace"). Taj is the word meaning "Crown".
There's an alternate theory, but I'll let Wikipedia's article explain it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal. Be sure to follow the link to Mumtaz Mahal's bio for more on the lady who inspired the Taj Mahal.

I didn't even think of Taj Mahal, haha. But that's how I was pronouncing it anyhow. I was debating if it was correct though since sometimes j's are pronounced as i's, so I thought it might be similar to Tai.
Yes Æ is a letter. Albeit only Danish and old norse.
Ps: Æ is placed right after the letter Z in the alphabet btw.
Not my fault. Blame Word's alphabetisation. :-p

I know. I was just stating it for further general knowledge. :-)

WOW :)
:)
:)
Mia is very cute, but another poster raised a point earlier that I hadn't previously considered: Mia stands for "missing in action."
I like Eva and Ava. Another similar name is Iva--a name used in Eastern Europe (the Iva I know is Czech). I think a cool thing about the spelling Iva, as opposed to Eva, is that there is no confusion regarding eee-va/ay-va (if you are going for the eee-va pronunction).
I also like Zoe, and I prefer this spelling to some others I've seen.
Ian is probably the only formal 3-letter male name I like, although I like Sam, Ben, etc. as nicknames.

That was me that mentioned Missing in Action. Other bad connotations are, In Korean it means "Lost Child" and there are Pro-Anorexia & Bulimia sites that are called Pro-Ana & Pro-Mia.
But in my mind the positive connotations outnumber the negative
