Today's Name of the Day is... Diana. WDYT?
Personally, it took me a long time to warm up to it, mainly because I'm used to the English pronunciation (die-AN-uh) that has the first syllable "die." As in... telling someone to go die. Even Princess Diana didn't shake this association, because people kept calling her "Princess Di" (this became especially eerie to me as a child, after her death).
Nowadays I can appreciate it, but I'm still unlikely to use it. I had a few classmates in high school with this name, who were all Latinas - so while they went by die-AN-un at school and among friends, I suspect they were called dee-AHN-ah by their families.
