At last, Jöran is married! He had refused to take a wife at court, but when the German Kaiser offered his daughter, Prinzessin Katharine Cordula Anselma Regine Adele, Jöran could not refuse - tensions between the two countries would only escalate and Jöran cannot risk that, not while he remembers his mother. Ina has already arrived in Sweden to marry the Kung and take her new name. What Sweden doesn't know is that the Kaiser has made this offer for tactical reasons - Ina is a clever and somewhat ruthless young woman and he hopes she will manipulate her new husband into making Sweden ripe for a German invasion. However, what Germany doesn't know is that despite her hard-heartedness, Ina does have one weakness - her insurmountable love for animals. As soon as she entered the Swedish palace and saw her fiancé sitting in his throne with two dogs at each side, she immediately fell passionately in love with him. It will take some time to win over her new husband's trust, but Ina is determined to rule Sweden for the benefit of the Swedish, to offer Jöran comfort from the trauma of his past, and also to spend plenty of time with Ros, Lilja, Vin and Vallmo.

Jöran was heart-broken when Ros passed away - as was Ina, who has grown to adore the palace spaniels, but she put aside her own feelings to comfort her husband, and the incident only made them closer. Ina's guidance has already done Sweden some good, and the country has entered a period of economic success. Nevertheless, the Kung is still slightly distrustful of his new wife due to the historically poor relations between German and Sweden, and she has been allowing him space to process their new marriage. The Kaiser is also slightly suspicious - why is Ina working to strengthen Sweden?

The year has been a happy one for Jöran and Ina. She has been teaching him how to handle the country, and he has been teaching her how to handle spaniels. They have become closer and closer, and, at the end of the year, Ina gave birth to their first child and heir. Her ladies in waiting joke that she practically willed the child into being a boy, which, to anyone who knows Ina, doesn't seem particularly unrealistic. The Kaiser is becoming more and more uncomfortable with the development of events in Sweden.

The royal couple had their second child this year; this time, a little girl, born with distinctive red hair that she likely inherits from her maternal grandfather. It seems the parents can barely keep their hands off each other. Though Jöran is still the country's only official monarch, it is only Ina who can ever rip herself away from her husband long enough to run the state. Jöran tends to spend most of his time while Ina is dealing with political affairs with the spaniels, or sometimes little Josef, who is a clever young lad that takes after his mother.

Unfortunately, Lilja passed away this year, but a more content Jöran was able to cope better with the loss than he has in the past, thanking the spaniel for her time with him before sitting with her as her breath faded and then burying her in the royal garden, with the 'help' of an enthusiastic Josef. However, dog-breeding has not been the Kung's particular focus this year; Ina has had another daughter, who looks just like Lucia. Little Iris has a slightly unconventional name for Swedish royality, but then, Ina and Jöran are a slightly unconventional couple, and the Kung wished to commemorate the importance of his first dog, Iris, who he still misses dreadfully, despite adoring and appreciating the company of faithful Vin and Vallmo. The Kaiser is becoming very irritated with Ina's failure to comply, but she is ignoring his communications. If war comes, the young Drottning reasons with herself, it will come. And Sweden will be victorious.

Unfortunately, Vin passed away this year, having succumbed to a mysterious illness that has been affecting many of the palaces' dogs and cats. Schlamm, the puppy the Kung and Drottning have chosen to keep from Vallmo's first litter, cannot replace him, but he can fill the gap in their hearts a little. Out of the children so far, Iris is easily the most interested in the spaniels that are so important to her parents.

The Kung and Drottning have received a proposal for a royal engagement! The new-born Russian Tsarevna, Tatiana Ivanovich, will on her sixteenth birthday travel to Sweden to marry little Josef, and will hopefully one day become Drottning. Ina finds her husband's complete lack of interest in political affairs rather endearing, but she herself, in her own steely way, is very, very pleased about the match.

Ina has given birth to twins! Though she secretly she wishes she could produce another son, Jöran is delighted to have more children to play with. "Children are a bit like dogs," he remarks to his wife thoughtfully one day. She slaps his hand, but her eyes reveal amusement, and Jöran knows her well enough to know that and to grin in response. The younger twin, Ruth, is the only one of the royal children so far to inherit her father's eyes.

Vallmo had her second litter this year, and Jöran chose to name the puppy they kept Spritzen. Josef and Lucia, who are very close and spend most of their time together playing imaginative games or reading, seem a little scared of the dogs, but Iris loves them.

When Ina looks back, she has to admit war was always inevitable. This year, the Kaiser became sick of his daughter's betrayals and sent his army to invade Sweden. Ina, having told herself that she would not let her country surrender, was caught off guard, and she soon realized that if a peace was not negotiated Sweden would be totally overruled. She agreed to give up 5000 gold coins and some fishing rights around the coast, in return for Germany promising not to encroach on Swedish land. Jöran, for his part, is proud of the way his wife has handled the situation, but the country has a less nuanced understanding of events, and the royal couple's already low popularity has further suffered - many believe Ina purposefully negotiated the treaty to damage Sweden given her own German nationality, which hits far too close to home for the poor Drottning. However, she refuses to condescend herself to respond to such damaging rumours, and has focussed herself on rebuilding the country whilst Jöran comforts the terrified Furste and Furstinnas.

The Kung had already been having a bad year when his dear little dog Spritzen passed away. When Ina was assassinated, Jöran was distraught - his wife had been his sole comfort and had propped up his less-than-ideal governance of Sweden. However, everyone knew she was thought to have been a German spy, and it was not hard to find the perpetrators of this attack and have them killed. What the Kung will never know is that his wife's last thoughts as she lay dying were that she wished she had told him the truth.

The studious and introverted Josef and Lucia, who have become even more withdrawn since the untimely death of their mother, requested this year that upon entering adulthood they be allowed to retreat into religious study. Jöran's initial instinct was to allow it, but he knew that Ina would have put Sweden first and insisted that Josef remain to take the throne; however, he told Lucia that if it was her wish, she could leave the court. Although she at first did not want to be separated from her beloved brother, he convinced her to take advantage of being given this permission and she has made plans to retreat into a convent on her sixteenth birthday.

When famine struck the country once again, the people had had enough. Jöran was deposed and executed. The people's first aim was to establish a constitutional government; however, some more conservative figures argued that the slightly more popular Josef should be allowed a chance to rule, and his wise nature led him to capitalize on this by proceeding to be coronated as soon as people. He insisted that Lucia leave for the convent immediately, taking her sisters with her, for their safety; however, Iris demanded she not be forced to go with them, and Josef finally relented. The poor girl only wanted to stay with her dog. Josef has not had time to mourn his father and wanted to throw himself directly into state affairs - the boy, it is agreed by all, is wise beyond his years - but convention states advisors must govern for him for the next four years, until he can take the throne himself.

At last, Jöran is married! He had refused to take a wife at court, but when the German Kaiser offered his daughter, Prinzessin Katharine Cordula Anselma Regine Adele, Jöran could not refuse - tensions between the two countries would only escalate and Jöran cannot risk that, not while he remembers his mother. Ina has already arrived in Sweden to marry the Kung and take her new name. What Sweden doesn't know is that the Kaiser has made this offer for tactical reasons - Ina is a clever and somewhat ruthless young woman and he hopes she will manipulate her new husband into making Sweden ripe for a German invasion. However, what Germany doesn't know is that despite her hard-heartedness, Ina does have one weakness - her insurmountable love for animals. As soon as she entered the Swedish palace and saw her fiancé sitting in his throne with two dogs at each side, she immediately fell passionately in love with him. It will take some time to win over her new husband's trust, but Ina is determined to rule Sweden for the benefit of the Swedish, to offer Jöran comfort from the trauma of his past, and also to spend plenty of time with Ros, Lilja, Vin and Vallmo.

Jöran was heart-broken when Ros passed away - as was Ina, who has grown to adore the palace spaniels, but she put aside her own feelings to comfort her husband, and the incident only made them closer. Ina's guidance has already done Sweden some good, and the country has entered a period of economic success. Nevertheless, the Kung is still slightly distrustful of his new wife due to the historically poor relations between German and Sweden, and she has been allowing him space to process their new marriage. The Kaiser is also slightly suspicious - why is Ina working to strengthen Sweden?

The year has been a happy one for Jöran and Ina. She has been teaching him how to handle the country, and he has been teaching her how to handle spaniels. They have become closer and closer, and, at the end of the year, Ina gave birth to their first child and heir. Her ladies in waiting joke that she practically willed the child into being a boy, which, to anyone who knows Ina, doesn't seem particularly unrealistic. The royal couple had their second child this year; this time, a little girl, born with distinctive red hair that she likely inherits from her maternal grandfather. It seems the parents can barely keep their hands off each other. Though Jöran is still the country's only official monarch, it is only Ina who can ever rip herself away from her husband long enough to run the state. Jöran tends to spend most of his time while Ina is dealing with political affairs with the spaniels, or sometimes little Josef, who is a clever young lad that takes after his mother.

Unfortunately, Lilja passed away this year, but a more content Jöran was able to cope better with the loss than he has in the past, thanking the spaniel for her time with him before sitting with her as her breath faded and then burying her in the royal garden, with the 'help' of an enthusiastic Josef. However, dog-breeding has not been the Kung's particular focus this year; Ina has had another daughter, who looks just like Lucia. Little Iris has a slightly unconventional name for Swedish royality, but then, Ina and Jöran are a slightly unconventional couple, and the Kung wished to commemorate the importance of his first dog, Iris, who he still misses dreadfully, despite adoring and appreciating the company of faithful Vin and Vallmo. The Kaiser is becoming very irritated with Ina's failure to comply, but she is ignoring his communications. If war comes, the young Drottning reasons with herself, it will come. And Sweden will be victorious.

Unfortunately, Vin passed away this year, having succumbed to a mysterious illness that has been affecting many of the palaces' dogs and cats. Schlamm, the puppy the Kung and Drottning have chosen to keep from Vallmo's first litter, cannot replace him, but he can fill the gap in their hearts a little. Out of the children so far, Iris is easily the most interested in the spaniels that are so important to her parents.

Ina has given birth to twins! Though she secretly she wishes she could produce another son, Jöran is delighted to have more children to play with. "Children are a bit like dogs," he remarks to his wife thoughtfully one day. She slaps his hand, but her eyes reveal amusement, and Jöran knows her well enough to know that and to grin in response. The younger twin, Ruth, is the only one of the royal children so far to inherit her father's eyes.

When Ina looks back, she has to admit war was always inevitable. This year, the Kaiser became sick of his daughter's betrayals and sent his army to invade Sweden. Ina, having told herself that she would not let her country surrender, was caught off guard, and she soon realized that if a peace was not negotiated Sweden would be totally overruled. She agreed to give up 5000 gold coins and some fishing rights around the coast, in return for Germany promising not to encroach on Swedish land. Jöran, for his part, is proud of the way his wife has handled the situation, but the country has a less nuanced understanding of events, and the royal couple's already low popularity has further suffered - many believe Ina purposefully negotiated the treaty to damage Sweden given her own German nationality, which hits far too close to home for the poor Drottning. However, she refuses to condescend herself to respond to such damaging rumours, and has focussed herself on rebuilding the country whilst Jöran comforts the terrified Furste and Furstinnas.

The Kung had already been having a bad year when his dear little dog Spritzen passed away. When Ina was assassinated, Jöran was distraught - his wife had been his sole comfort and had propped up his less-than-ideal governance of Sweden. However, everyone knew she was thought to have been a German spy, and it was not hard to find the perpetrators of this attack and have them killed. What the Kung will never know is that his wife's last thoughts as she lay dying were that she wished she had told him the truth.

The studious and introverted Josef and Lucia, who have become even more withdrawn since the untimely death of their mother, requested this year that upon entering adulthood they be allowed to retreat into religious study. Jöran's initial instinct was to allow it, but he knew that Ina would have put Sweden first and insisted that Josef remain to take the throne; however, he told Lucia that if it was her wish, she could leave the court. Although she at first did not want to be separated from her beloved brother, he convinced her to take advantage of being given this permission and she has made plans to retreat into a convent on her sixteenth birthday.

When famine struck the country once again, the people had had enough. Jöran was deposed and executed. The people's first aim was to establish a constitutional government; however, some more conservative figures argued that the slightly more popular Josef should be allowed a chance to rule, and his wise nature led him to capitalize on this by proceeding to be coronated as soon as people. He insisted that Lucia leave for the convent immediately, taking her sisters with her, for their safety; however, Iris demanded she not be forced to go with them, and Josef finally relented. The poor girl only wanted to stay with her dog. Josef has not had time to mourn his father and wanted to throw himself directly into state affairs - the boy, it is agreed by all, is wise beyond his years - but convention states advisors must govern for him for the next four years, until he can take the throne himself.
