I rolled a 1 and decided I wanted to start out with Scotland and Wales, set in relatively medieval times and more toward the late medieval. I’m not going to worry too much about historical accuracy with the titles since things were in flux back then. I might try to incorporate political things, but we’ll see if I keep it going . ;) Also, I chose to roll each year from year 0 to 5, then rolled every 5 years until the end. And, if you’re interested, I used random renamer for spouse names (except the original king and queen) until I hit on one that I fancied enough.

Crown Prince Neirin, who had been as yet unmarried (none of the suggestions from foreign or local kingdoms/houses had panned out), shocked Talfryn & Ealasaid by declaring that he wished to marry a commoner! Her name was Tegan Meiriona Banes, and she had ginger hair and blue–almost–violet eyes. They were strongly against it at the start, the Prince not being that old and a good match from a proper family was sure to be forthcoming. However when they met her and saw that she was headstrong yet respectful, beautiful yet not vain, and potentially already a bit pregnant yet devoutly religious–and seeing that Neirin was over-the-moon for her–they relented. They did, however, decide that they would not bestow a title upon her and she will only gain one when she becomes the Queen Consort upon Neirin’s coronation. The wedding was performed quietly in the castle chapel with the King and Queen, Prince Bryn, and Tegan’s parents and younger brother in attendance.
Mini-Family Events:
Llewella couldn’t make the journey, having just given birth to a son - Emrys and her first child! The Duke and Duchess had been disappointed, thinking that they had a barren marriage, but then Padrig came along. He has his mother’s dark brown hair and his father’s striking green eyes. There was an unsuccessful attempt on King Talfryn’s life this year! Poison was put in the King’s wine at dinner. Some point the finger at the king’s third important advisor, ever the conniving type, but King Talfryn is still investigating.
Mini-Family Events:
In a tragic turn, a second attempt meant for King Talfryn fell upon Crown Prince Neirin, who was assassinated mistakenly by a stray arrow in a “hunting accident” (he had borrowed his father’s cloak as his was wet). Tegan, his wife, and all of the royal family are horror-stricken, and the King experiencing guilt that it was he who should have died. Tegan has gone back to live with her family, though the King and Queen encouraged her to stay with them, because the memories in the palace were too great for her to bear. Prince Bryn, their remaining son, will now inherit the throne.
Llewella and Emrys have an argument when she finds that Emrys has had a dalliance with serving girl. He insists that his heart lies with Llewella, the wench was merely a diversion, as the Duchess was grieving and his bed was thus growing cold. The servant has been sacked, and the couple made up in the bedchamber. Llewella is hoping another child will come from this reunion of their martial closeness and also help channel her grief over her brother’s assassination. She will also make sure the housekeeper hires plain girls.

Unfortunately, nothing satisfactory has presented itself yet, and Bryn isn’t making things easier with his devil-may-care attitude to the idea of marriage. King Talfryn assures his wife that Bryn is young and there’s enough time, and he’s just more interested in his knightly training (which he has continued after becoming Crown Prince, as he was in line to become a knight and hopefully one day a chief battle advisor). Queen Ealasaid assures her husband that Bryn is indeed more interested in knights, but perhaps for more reasons that he thinks. They leave it at that and hope for a match in the coming years.

Neirin’s widow Tegan thought that she might be alone forever, so strong was the combination of her grief and then the awkwardness for suitors of her having been almost a Princess and then not. However, life has its surprises. She has married a recently-widowed cousin of hers, Awstin, and become stepmother to his young son Martyn. Awstin is a strong yet gentle man, and both understand what it means to lose a loved spouse, and also that it is nice to not be alone. (Note: I’m only going to roll for births and marriages for Tegan’s family, and will ignore if I roll another event number. I’m will also use random renamer or choose my own names for this family and forgo hair/eye escriptions).

Crown Prince Neirin, who had been as yet unmarried (none of the suggestions from foreign or local kingdoms/houses had panned out), shocked Talfryn & Ealasaid by declaring that he wished to marry a commoner! Her name was Tegan Meiriona Banes, and she had ginger hair and blue–almost–violet eyes. They were strongly against it at the start, the Prince not being that old and a good match from a proper family was sure to be forthcoming. However when they met her and saw that she was headstrong yet respectful, beautiful yet not vain, and potentially already a bit pregnant yet devoutly religious–and seeing that Neirin was over-the-moon for her–they relented. They did, however, decide that they would not bestow a title upon her and she will only gain one when she becomes the Queen Consort upon Neirin’s coronation. The wedding was performed quietly in the castle chapel with the King and Queen, Prince Bryn, and Tegan’s parents and younger brother in attendance.
Mini-Family Events:
Llewella couldn’t make the journey, having just given birth to a son - Emrys and her first child! The Duke and Duchess had been disappointed, thinking that they had a barren marriage, but then Padrig came along. He has his mother’s dark brown hair and his father’s striking green eyes. (Note: for Mini-Families such as Lewella’s I’ll roll for events, but if it affects the kingdom popularity, etc. instead of just a family-type event I’ll ignore it and consider that nothing happened.)

There was an unsuccessful attempt on King Talfryn’s life this year! Poison was put in the King’s wine at dinner. Some point the finger at the king’s third important advisor, ever the conniving type, but King Talfryn is still investigating.
Mini-Family Events:
In a tragic turn, a second attempt meant for King Talfryn fell upon Crown Prince Neirin, who was assassinated mistakenly by a stray arrow in a “hunting accident” (he had borrowed his father’s cloak as his was wet). Tegan, his wife, and all of the royal family are horror-stricken, and the King experiencing guilt that it was he who should have died. Tegan has gone back to live with her family, though the King and Queen encouraged her to stay with them, because the memories in the palace were too great for her to bear. Prince Bryn, their remaining son, will now inherit the throne.
Llewella and Emrys have an argument when she finds that Emrys has had a dalliance with serving girl. He insists that his heart lies with Llewella, the wench was merely a diversion, as the Duchess was grieving and his bed was thus growing cold. The servant has been sacked, and the couple made up in the bedchamber. Llewella is hoping another child will come from this reunion of their martial closeness and also help channel her grief over her brother’s assassination. She will also make sure the housekeeper hires plain girls.

18+ Marriage:
The King and Queen are eager to have Crown Prince Bryn married and with children. Unfortunately, nothing satisfactory has presented itself yet, and Bryn isn’t making things easier with his devil-may-care attitude to the idea of marriage. King Talfryn assures his wife that Bryn is young and there’s enough time, and he’s just more interested in his knightly training (which he has continued after becoming Crown Prince, as he was in line to become a knight and hopefully one day a chief battle advisor). Queen Ealasaid assures her husband that Bryn is indeed more interested in knights, but perhaps for more reasons that he thinks. They leave it at that and hope for a match in the coming years.

Padrig, Llewella & Emrys’ son, falls very ill, but lives.
Neirin’s widow Tegan thought that she might be alone forever, so strong was the combination of her grief and then the awkwardness for suitors of her having been almost a Princess and then not. However, life has its surprises. She has married a recently-widowed cousin of hers, Awstin, and become stepmother to his young son Martyn. Awstin is a strong yet gentle man, and both understand what it means to lose a loved spouse, and also that it is nice to not be alone. (Note: I’m only going to roll for births and marriages for Tegan’s family, and will ignore if I roll another event number. I’m will also use random renamer or choose my own names for this family and forgo hair/eye escriptions).

Some political reforms are carried out and the King’s popularity once again does not change because of them. Talfryn has proved to be a King in touch with his people and their needs.

Bryn still is not seriously entertaining any marriage proposals. The Prince is not lonely, though.His friend and fellow-knight Leolin is often by his side, crashing in the Prince’s chambers after late night talks and drinking sessions, and they’ve been going on frequent “hunting” and “training” afternoons.

There is an unsuccessful attempt on Duke Emry’s life! He was stabbed in town at night while he and some friends were getting ready to ride home for the evening. No one knows if it was a botched robbery or an assassination plot, but Emrys’s wound is healing well and the doctors say he is going to be fine.
Tegan and Awstin had a daughter, Bronwyn, the year following their marriage. All three are thrilled, and perhaps Martyn the most; he’s always wanted a sibling and he loves his little sister.

Crown Prince Bryn has finally given into his parents urging and chosen a wife, Rhiannon, who has auburn hair and blue eyes. She is the young Duchess of Powys, a large and politically weighty region, which was vacated by her father’s recent death. She inherited, he having no male heirs so the match is advantageous to the kingdom. His decision was helped Leolin, who married the year before, and who told Bryn to relent to his parents’ wishes and the good of the kingdom. They still go on hunting trips when they can.
Lewella’s son Padrig married the daughter of a Count, Gweneth Afon.

Bryn adores his little son, who has his mother’s auburn hair and shares his grey eyes.

Teagan and Awstin are happy with their work and enjoying their children, and they hope that both Martyn and Bronwyn will make good, lasting marriages as they have found with each other.
