Julien and Aurélie have been friends since childhood. They make an odd match, their friends say - outspoken, extroverted Aurélie, and the quieter, more reserved Julien. They started dating three years ago, and got married last year.

Julien and Aurélie didn’t really plan on become parents so early into their marriage. Aurélie is desperate to return to work, and Julien takes as much paternity leave as he can. Both love spending time with Victoire, who they can already tell will grow up with Aurélie’s brigjt red hair.

Aurélie’s journalism takes her to Brazil, working on a report into living conditions in the country’s slums. She falls in love with the place while there - after a lot of talking, she and Julien decide to move their young family across the world to live in a new culture.

Just as Victoire is starting school and there is hope for some peace in the house, Aurélie discovers that she is expecting again. She and Julien are stunned when they discover she is carrying twin girls, and for a while they wonder how they’ll cope with having four small children. Victoire and Héloïse love Isabelle and Margot, who have been giving Portuguese surnames to honour the country in which they were born.

Well. Julien and Aurélie thought they had things under control - Victoire and Héloïse started school, and they can take care of two babies at the same time as they did when the oldest girl were young. And then quadruplets happened. Life has been a whirlwind of nappies and bottles and crying, and Victoire and Héloïse have grown quite jealous of the time their parents spend with the babies.
