Diminutive of CATO (2), as it contains the Dutch diminutive suffix -tje. This name is not to be confused with the Dutch noun kadootje meaning "little present".In Dutch literature and popular culture, Catootje is the name of the youngest daughter and middle child of the Tromp family from the popular long-running cartoon Jan, Jans en de kinderen (which is known in English as Jack, Jacky and the Juniors). The cartoon was started in 1970 by the Dutch cartoonist Jan Kruis (1933-2017) and is continued to this day by his successors.
