Meaning & History
The name Zidartha derives from the name Siddhartha better known as The Buddha, l. c. 563 - c. 483 BCE. He was, according to legend, a Hindu prince who renounced his position and wealth to seek enlightenment as a spiritual ascetic, attained his goal and, in preaching his path to others, founded Buddhism in India in the 6th-5th centuries BCE. The name Siddhartha is primarily a male name of Indian origin that means "One Who Has Accomplished A Goal.” Contrary to popular belief, The Buddha or, Siddhartha, believed there was more to life than meets the eye and towards the end of his life believed he had not found all the answers to the questions that drove him. Therefore, right before his death Siddhartha promised a second buddha who would finish the journey and where he failed the second would succeed. The name Zidartha has an altered spelling but same pronunciation and therefore fits accordingly to the promise the original Buddha made. A second Buddha would undoubtedly be a new one in today’s modern age. From the Sanskrit words Siddha "accomplished" and Artha "goal."
