Meaning & History
From Japanese 依 (yori) meaning "rely on, be dependent upon" combined with 子 (ko) meaning "child". Other kanji combinations are possible. Famous bearers are Yoriko Kawaguchi, Japanese politican, Yoriko Shono, Japanese author and Yoriko Okamoto, the first Japanese athlete to become an Olympic taekwondo medalist.
