A known bearer is the Assyrian monastic missionary and saint Tadeoz Stepantsmindeli (6th century AD), who was also known as Tate Mamebeli in Georgian. He was one of the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers and was originally from Antioch on the Orontes. Eventually he travelled to Caucasian Iberia, where he spent the remainder of his life. He founded the Stepantsminda Monastery near what is now the town of Kaspi in the Georgian region of Shida Kartli.
