I still think this is a pretty name. When I was a very young kid though, I just thought it was the most beautiful name ever. And I would instantly assign it to every adult woman that I thought was beautiful.
There is a jump-roping song (unapproved by parents) called "Ms. Susie had a steamboat". It goes like this:Ms. Susie had a steamboat The steamboat had a bell Ms. Susie went to heaven The steamboat went to Hello operator Please dial #9 And if you disconnect me I'll kick you from Behind the 'frigerator There lay a piece of glass Ms. Susie sat upon it And cut her little Ask me no more questions Tell me no more lies The boys are in the bathroom Pulling down their Flies are in the backyard Bees are in the park Ms. Susie and her boyfriend Are kissing in the dark, dark, darkObviously, the song is a loophole to the "no profanity" thing.
A little (kind of) extension to my previous comment: I love this name. It's very cute for a child, and as an adult the person can always go by the name Susan. It also fits all kinds of girls, ranging from those who are cute and those who are cool. I liked this name in the past, but the Deltarune character has really made me love this name even more.
I have to admit, I never thought anything about the name until the character that you mentioned. Not only did she give me a positive opinion about the name, but for all names as a whole. I fully appreciate the name Susie, I agree with the variety statement you said, and I wouldn't mind if it became popular. However, I don't like Susan, and I personally feel that Susie has enough foundation to classify as a real, full name.Names sure are an elegant and interesting concept. Though their sole purpose is to identify people, names have so much meaning and origins behind them. It shows that we as a human race can truly appreciate anything about us if we try hard enough.Susie is a name that rocks. Stay safe, bro.
In 2018, 52 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Susie* who is registered female with the Social Security Administration. It is the 865th most common female first name for living U.S. citizens. *as a first name, not a nickname.

In the movie Elf, Buddy & Jovie name their baby Susie after his mom, Susan.
This name isn't bad, but it's too simplistic. To me, it'd be like naming my child Janie or Jenny. Why not Jane or Jennifer? I have an aunt called Susan which I feel is much better. I don't get that one comment up there about the dog and it being less popular. So many names are used now that rank low... so?
I don't think I could name my daughter this since my great aunt's dog is named Susie. I'd feel like I was naming my daughter after the dog. Though she is a sweet puppy, it would just bug me. At the moment I think that if you name your daughter this it'll be odd since no one is using it and it's ranking low. It'd be too weird even if it has a good name, it'd be like naming your son John or Bill. Maybe in the future it'll become popular but till then I'd avoid using it as anymore then a middle name.
