Pretty name but I can only picture it on a black cat.

Really good name! The meaning is amazing, it sounds quite nice and very uncommon where I live. BUT (and a very big but here) there is one flaw. Where I live, their is a beer company called this which kind of puts me off of this name, sorry. TLDR: I like the name, just there is a beer company.
Stella Grant is the main female character in the book "Five Feet Apart" and its 2019 adaptation movie. She is a 17-year-old girl with Cystic Fibrosis, a terminal genetic disease that damages the patient's lungs and has a high rate of early mortality. The disease isn't contagious, but patients have a high risk of cross-infection, so it is necessary for them to keep a distance of at least six feet between each other. The book and movie tell the story of how Stella met and fell in love with a fellow Cystic Fibrosis-er named Will Newman, and their relationship five feet apart from each other.
Elegant and timeless!
I love this name and everything about it! It is my name, I love that it is Italian but I hate that my name is a kind of beer. Like bruh...
Very pretty.
I knew twins called Stella and Eve. That’s such a beautiful combination. I didn’t use to like the name Stella but now I love it, along with Estelle and Estella.
Stella Liebeck (1912-2004) was a British-born American woman who in 1992 filed a lawsuit against McDonald's after she suffered third-degree burns from a severely hot cup of McDonald's coffee. I like it. It's so cute and it's a gorgeous name.
Wow, what a gorgeously stellar name.
Stella is a gorgeous and ethereal name. Celestial and overall lovely. I can see why it’s popular in the US right now and including other places. It’s universal, familiar but not overly common, and great for a girl through all stages of life.
Truly a nice diminutive for Estelle to me.
Stella sounds so magical to me, the ending -ella is also cute tho.
Stella; stellar.

Gorgeous. It has an alluring lunar and celestial charm about it that makes it enchanting. I used to have a rocking horse named Stella that I loved for years.
Anyways, I think Stella is a wonderful name.
I want to love this name so much, I really want to. It's bright in both sound and meaning. It's feminine and happy and rolls off the tongue. Simply beautiful. But every time I hear it, I can't help being reminded specifically of the Marlon Brando impression that Elaine did on Seinfeld - and I can't stand that show because it brings up personal memories of bad times, so the name is just forever tainted for me. I'm likely the only one who thinks of this particular association first, and if not, I'm at least the only one who can't get past this association. If anything the original movie quote might potentially be a bit of a negative. How many times have real life Stellas had their name yelled at them over the years?
I absolutely love Stella! It rolls off the tongue nicely.
Stella Ewing is a character in the animated TV series Totally Spies!. She is Clover's mother.
Hmm... I'm not so sure about Stella. I mean, don't get me wrong, in general I think that Stella is a beautiful, original and charming name. Seriously. It's just that... for some reason I always imagine a vain and superficial girl, probably because since I was a child I have associated this name with the character of Stella from the Winx. I'm sorry, the truth is that I don't understand it either, but for that reason I wouldn't give my daughter that name. On the contrary, Estelle seems friendlier to me. I prefer Estelle.
Aww! My name's Stella, and it makes me feel so good that people like my name ≧◡≦.
Pretty!

Stella is the adorable dog from Modern Family!
Stella is a star, and they are all different. She's a shiny, unique soul.
This is a unique name. I guess it’s not good or bad but I personally would never use it for a child. To me, I don’t know why I just always think of a dog. I think I like Estelle and Estella better for that reason. You could always call them Ella as a nickname though.
This name is as beautiful as the stars.
I like the meaning, but the overall name is weak.
Stella Artois is a brand of beer.
I really don’t like this name. Not seeing the appeal!
I love Stella, and I think it’s a really cute name! It’s a shame that it’s also the name of a beer though >:(
It's alright, not good, not bad. Feels like an unusual name, but at the same time it sounds a little bit dry. Just alright!
It's okay, however I can only see this on a child aged 3-12. Idk but it just does.
It’s cool and it means stars in Latin.

Stella means "star" not only in Latin but in Italian language too (I know it because I'm Italian). In Italy it's getting more popular, I find it a very sweet, adorable and cute name especially for a little girl ♡.
I love Stella! It's very sweet, celestial and angelic, melodious and energetic but kinda frilly at the same time. Its meaning is a bit cliche but still lovely. I don't know any Stellas in person at all, I'd love to meet one someday, but it is quite a rare name over here, I like it for that too. It has also the sweet -ella ending which makes this name so magical. One of my guilty pleasure imaginary sib-set ideas is a girl / girl twin set named Stella and Luna, so gorgeous! I much prefer the way we pronounce it here as STEL-lah, rather than with just one l, I think it has more charm and melody this way.

Another literary example is the play "Stella" by the famous German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It was originally published in 1776 but created a huge scandal because at the end of the play the two heroines, Stella and Cecilia, are living in a menage a trois with Fernando, the man they both love. Goethe rewrote the play thirty years later in 1806 in a version where Stella and Fernando both commit suicide, leaving only Cecilia alive at the end, which was at that point in history a less scandalous ending for German audiences.

I don't ever plan on having children, but if I was to have a daughter, I think I would've called her Stella. It's just such a beautiful name.
I have always loved this name since I was young. We named our first daughter Stella and it fits her perfectly. She's strong and bold, yet so sweet and delicate. I've read above comments about people named Stella saying they feel their name is lucky or describes them perfectly and I believe it! Obviously I'm biased, but my Stella is such a special girl who just seems to float through this life breathing in every possible thing she can. Such a great name. It's ethereal, just like her:)

I've done a lot of traveling as my dad moves around a lot and my mum has said to me that she has never met another Stella anywhere. I haven't either. I think it's more unique than some websites say it is. I personally really like my name and the meaning. I have nicknames such as Stell, Stells and Stella Bella. The good thing is, everyone pronounces it correctly as it is easy to read.
My name is Stella. And I love my name. In my life I've never met a Stella, and for some reason I like that because it shows how unique and unpopular the name is and it makes me feel special. The one thing is that everyone I meet are like "STELLA" which is funny but I would see them like, everyday and they'd do that constantly. My parents are Italian or Greek. They liked the name and so that's what happened. I'm proud to have the name I was given. Some people want to be be named other things but your name makes you, you, even if you have a really common name like Jack or Grace.
My name is Stella and I'm 12. The name Stella came from my great grandmother. I have always felt that I'm so lucky to have such an amazing name. Also I've felt that us Stella's are unique. I've only met one other brunette with the name Stella. The name Stella I feel brings me good fortune and makes me feel so good knowing that my name has such a wonderful meaning. Stella means star. And I am very proud of my name and plan on naming my future daughter Stella.
My name is Stella, and I love having it as a name. My parents were both born in Italy and it is a very Italian name. My friends all call me Stellar, Stell, Ste, and Stellie. I think that it is a great name because it's super unique in my opinion, and I love that it is making a rebound. What's kind of annoying/funny is that everyone I meet yell "STELLLLAAAA" referring to the movie. But I still love this name and wouldn't change it for anything else.

Putting my two cents into the usage debate - Stella truly IS an Italian name. It seems to have had usage since at least the 19th century, judging by old records. Stella might have been used in Italy for much longer than that, since in Italy there exists this title of the Virgin Mary: "Madonna della Stella" (of whom there are several shrines dedicated to in Italy). Maybe over the years Stella's popularity with Anglophones has eclipsed its Italian popularity - but it's still an Italian name. By the way, I have grown to love the name Stella!
This is my great-great-aunt's name. She was born in the 1920s. For the longest time this name made me think of old ladies but then I met a teenager and a little girl who were both named Stella. Too girly and over the top, it does not really suit an adult.
There is a jazz song called "Stella by Starlight," based on the theme for the character Stella from the classic haunted house film "The Uninvited." Great film and a lovely song, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of the name. It's nice enough, I guess, but I prefer Ella. And all I can really think of when I hear this name is, of course: "Stella! Hey, STELLAAAAAA!"

This is the name of 'Baywatch' star Gena Lee Nolin's baby; Stella Monroe Hulse. This is such a pretty name, I'm glad to see that an actress actually chose a name that's both regal and sweet unlike those dumb made-up names most son/daughter of actor/actress kids bear.
I love this name - both its sound and its meaning. It's a lot sweeter than calling your kid Star, and it would suit a girl throughout her life (picture Baby Stella, Stella the Grade-Schooler, Teen Stella, Stella at University, Mommy Stella, etc). I also think it makes an amazing nickname for Estella, one of my all-time favourite names. But then again, the name will always make some people think: "STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

This is a very pretty name. It suits both a girl and woman very well.

This name is also Italian.
No, it's not actually an Italian name. It's an English coinage of a name taken from an Italian/Latin word. So I guess if there is a "correct" pronunciation it would be the English one; it's not traditionally used as a name in Italy, and it's used as one was English.
