Derives most possibly from "sitti" which means "he, who protects" or "is kept safe (by) him" and "şah", which means "king, queen". This was the given name of Sittişah Hatun, consort of Mehmed II. and biological mother of Bayezid II. She was born as Mükrime, daugther of Zülkadiroğlu Süleyman Bey, 6th ruler of Dulkadir state. She lived in 1435-1467.
