Meaning & History

Means "fate".

She was an Akkadian goddess of fate, tied to the West Semitic goddess Ashima. While a goddess in her own right, she was also part of a title for other goddess such as Ishtar, and Damkina, who was titled 'banat shimti' meaning 'creator of fate'.
