Although this name seems to hold a ton of support from the majority, I cannot share the same opinion as I truly don't care for it. It just doesn't sound appealing to me. I honestly think it sounds strange and not in a good way. I prefer other similar Spanish names such as Yago and especially Diego, which I'm quite fond of.
I apologize for my comment on 6/2/2021 which had low rating. I think Santiago is a fine name. It's just strange to my taste. If anyone is going to name their son this but he doesn't like it, they can call him Santi, Thiago, or even Diego.
I came here from Pamtri, a Youtuber who uses this word (name) in their videos as a running gag. Though to be honest, I would have never known this was a name if I didn't see it was popular in Portugal. My actual impression: I think it sounds nice and very unique. It has a lot of history behind it as well. Personally, I like rarer names, and I've never seen or heard of somebody named Santiago around where I am from (Ohio). Of course, it's obviously common in other places, which maybe one day I might be able to travel to and meet some people who have this name. I think it sounds very nice. :)
I love this name it sounds so awesome, fun and cool! I recommend this name to people!

I used to hate this name until I read The Old Man and the Sea. I wouldn't name a child this, but now there's a positive association. I can't believe that was the third comment and people didn't think of it sooner. Santiago is a lively enough name, but I don't think it's the best in the world.
