From Japanese 留 (ru) meaning "detain, fasten", 流 (ru) meaning "current, flow", or 瑠 (ru) meaning "lapis lazuli" combined with 美 (mi) meaning "beautiful" and 子 (ko) meaning "child". Other kanji combinations are possible.
