I vaguely remember once finding this name silly, but I’ve been into Final Fantasy VII for so long now that I can only consider it a hot guy name because of Rufus Shinra.

Rufus Tiger Taylor is an English musician. He's also Roger Taylor's son.
Rufus King (1755-1827) was an American founding father, politician, lawyer, and diplomat from Massachusetts. He signed the United States Constitution in 1787. He later represented New York in the Senate and was minister to the United Kingdom. His grandson, also named Rufus King (1814-1876), was an American soldier and diplomat from New York. He was a brigadier general in the Union Army during the Civil War and commanded the Iron Brigade. He later became minister to the Papal States.
Really don't care for this name. I just feel sorry for all the guys who are stuck with it because of their parent's stupidity. I know a guy named Rufus who goes by his nickname instead. Better suited to a dog than an actual human being.
I have a 6 month old German Shepherd puppy named Rufus, and he's so adorable. Rufus is more of a name for dogs, not a human. I think Rufus fits German Shepherds better than any other breed, and I can see it on a lab, pit bull, doberman pinscher, great Dane, and maybe another dog breed, but not on anything like a poodle or pomeranian. If you want to name your dog Rufus and have a different breed, then you can by all means. RUFUS IS A DOG NAME, NOT A HUMAN NAME.
Actor Rufus Sewell. He played the conflicted and diabolical Nazi Obergruppenführer John Smith in the popular Amazon Prime series The Man In The High Castle (2015-2019). He played the pompous elitist villain in the zany classic A Knight's Tale (2001), and also played the lead role in the lesser known movie Dark City (1998). Famous quote: "You have been weighed, and have been found wanting."
A truly awful name. I wouldn't even give a dog this name. It *might* be okay for one of those weird looking guinea pigs, (the kind with the funny little tufts of hair going every which way) but that's about it.

It is the name of the red monster, with one teal eye on Fantage. If you go to the island and click on the photo booth, then the closet and click February (month) and 2010 (year).
Rufus Wainwright is a very talented guy, who has a lovely voice, but his first name on the other hand, is ugly, in my opinion; I guess it fits him, at least.

Love it. It's a masculine, no-nonsense name that ages well with you.
This name makes me think of dogs. It also sounds very British to me. And what do you know, it's quite popular in Britain! It's not the worst name out there, I mean Rex and Bella are used on people and they're both very popular dog names. I think Rufus is a lot cuter than Rupert, I think it could grow on me over time :-)

Rufus is very canine-esque and rhymes with doofus. It's one of the worst names I can imagine because it's pretentious and nerdy at the same time.

Rufus Butterworth, the taxidriver and co-owner of Bert's diner from The Good Guys, played by Bob Denver.
I think this is a really nice name, and I think it's definitely usable. For me, it has no dog connotations whatsoever, and I can see this name on a young child, an adult and an old man - I can just see it being used on any age, although I wouldn't use it as a first name as it's a bit too rare for my tastes, but I would consider using it as a middle name. :)
I really wish people wouldn't have started using this on dogs! This is a Saints name people! It is a classic, yet seems very modern to me. I can picture a modern day British actor. Actually I think there is a British actor with this name, but I can't remember his last name. I wouldn't use it because of the dog association, and I'm just not that bold, and my husband is even less bold than I am. But for the gutsy person, this name rocks!
Rhymes with 'doofus', and I bet other kids would realize that very quickly. This is just a hideous name. I wouldn't recommend it to be used on a dog, let alone a person.
This has to be one of the worst names ever. Sounds ridiculous. The reason that it's popular as a dog's name must be because it sounds like a dog's bark. ROOF-us.
This name is just so bad. It has always been one of the worst names ever to me. I'd HATE it if my name was Rufus.

I love the name Rufus! It is one of my favourite names. I think Rufus Aaron is a great combination. However, when I mentioned to my friends that I liked this name, they laughed and said it reminded them of a dog! I thought that was mean because this name is fantastic!
