Meaning & History
From the characters 千 (qiān, meaning “thousand”) and 秋 (qīu, meaning “autumn”). This was a very common name for men during the Han dynasty (202 BCE - 220 CE). One of its bearers was Tian Qianqiu (田千秋), a prime minister of the Western Han period (202 BCE - 9 CE). Qianqiu, due to its meaning of “thousand autumns”, is also used to denote the passing of many ages and eras in Chinese.
