I know an Olufunmilayo who goes by Ayo. One would probably assume that nickname to be pronounced "ei-yoh" from reading it, as in "AYO 💀", but it's really "ai-yoh", like "Io".
You guys are probably not even African, not to say Nigerian, to understand the value of this name. And FYI, it's usually shortened to Ola, Funmi, or Ayo.
Once you know how to pronounce it, it's actually quite nice. Milayo would be a lovely nickname. :)
Francis Abigail Olufunmilayo Thomas, later Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, was a Nigerian activist and the mother of musician Fela Kuti.
This is the name of my friend. She pronounces it OH-loo-foo-mee-LIE-oh.
Maybe if it was a family or traditional name, but even then, it's long and hard to say. It would need a decent nickname.
A cute nickname would be Fun!?
Not only is it hideous, it also is WAY too hard to say! You would need an even more apalling nickname, like Oluf, or something else that sounds like trash. It's just like naming your kid Quiopolkigedoryklandermoli.
