Meaning & History
In the Elamite pantheon, Nahundi was the god of the sun, but also the god of justice and law. His name - spelled Nahiti in earlier times - was apparently the same as the word for 'sun' in Elamite, although the literal meaning of that word is said to be "creator of the day". At least ten Elamite kings were named in his honour (which is consistent with the fact that nearly all rulers of Elam bore theophoric names).
