Meaning & History
Feminine form of أَمْجَد (ʾamjad) (see Amjad), itself an elative of مَجِيد Majid, feminine مَجِيدَة (Majīda). The vocabulary word has several meanings, but the primary one intended by parents as a name is "most glorious, most exalted". Other, less frequently intended meanings are "most famous", "most praiseworthy, most excellent, most splendid", and "most noble, noblest".Furthermore, all of the above meanings can also be of lesser elative quality, i.e. "more glorious, more exalted" (instead of "most glorious, most exalted"), etc.
