I love this name! It is my nickname for Madeleine. For the most part, Maddie has always been a nickname for other baby names, like Madeline or Madison. However, many new parents are choosing to use it as a given name on its own. It's cute, sweet, fun and full of personality. I see so many hateful comments about this name calling it a spoiled childish name, but it really isn't. There is nothing bratty about this name unless you pair it with a bratty girl.

Hello, I will be writing down my personal feelings about the name “Maddie”. If you are offended easily (which is almost everyone on this site!) then I’d recommend not reading. Anyway - This is one of those names that I hate with a burning passion. It’s ugly, trashy, and childish. Even Madison is better than this atrocious mess. If your name is Maddie, then I am so sorry, you deserve so much better. Especially If you don’t have a more mature name like Madeleine to fall back on when you’re older. Very unfortunate if you ask me.

Yeah, not a big fan on Maddie/Maddy (or those god awful "kreeativ" spellings like madi or maddi that ten year old girls make up for themselves) because if you think about it, how many people over the age of sixteen use this name? I love Madeline/Madeleine, but I would never use Maddie as a nickname because people might assume her name is Madison, which I loathe!
