I like this name a lot! It's one of my favorite girl names and it's on my list of girl names if I ended up having a baby girl :)I discovered this name because one of my English tutors's name is Ludmilla and she was such a sweetheart that I decided to put it as one of my top favorite girl names and she knew my father when both studied at the same Law School! And it's one of the names that I prefer without a middle name, since I love putting middle names on my characters, cause I'm a fulltime writer :3. And Ludmilla is not a really popular name in Brazil, where I was born and currently still live, and it's pretty unique and stands out. And referring to the "Brazilian Japanese" commentary, as a Brazilian myself I can't really view or associate it with the person's looks or personality, but I tend to choose the names by their meaning, more than the pronunciation most of the time.
This - Lida - has been my name for many years. I've loved it. It's somewhat timeless, and nobody really has it, yet it is not a strange name and seems familiar to everyone once they hear it. It's feminine yet strong. I grew up being told it meant "Beloved by the people". Maybe that's not 100% accurate, but it's good enough for me. The only problem with it is that when people give it a careless runthrough they will call me "Linda" but they don't make that mistake twice as it's not a hard name to remember.
