A lovely name that fits women of all ages. Lucía and Sofía make great names for twins in my opinion, but I won't use those variants unless I marry a Spanish or Hispanic man.
This page does not list Lucía Sánchez Saornil. She is a Spanish anarcha feminist, was a lesbian and wrote under a male pen name when homosexuality was criminalized and subject to censorship and punishment.

According to (http://www.babynames.ch/Info/Name/naLucia2) Lucía ranked 34th place in Peru (2015) and ranked 3rd place in Buenos Aires (2015). I would say Lucía is more popular in Spain than countries in Latin America.
Actually the pronunciation is more like loo-THEE-ah (most of Spain) or lee-SEE-ah (South America, Andalusia and the Canary Islands). The middle vowel (í) is pronounced "ee", not "eh". [noted -ed]
Lucía has an accent in it because it is a Spanish name, and accents are used in Spanish to indicate the stressed syllable. Thus, Lucía is pronounced Loo-SEE-ah.
