Luana Reyes (1933 – 2001) was an American Indian (Native American) health care administrator. As executive director of the Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) 1972–1982, she grew that institution from a staff of five to nearly 200 and made it a model for urban Indian institutions; subsequently, she worked for the federal Indian Health Service, eventually becoming deputy director of that 14,000-person institution. She was of Sin Aikst (now known as Sinixt or the Lakes tribe, one of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation) and Filipino descent.
The pronunciations on this site needs to be corrected for many names.Luana is loo-AH-na in Italian, not LWA-na. The English W sound doesn't exist in Italian.
The name experienced a huge increase in popularity in the US in the 1940s, due to child actress Luana Patten. After her appearance in Disney's "Song of the South" (a movie that is very controversial these days) in 1946 the name went up from only 46 births to 91 births and in the following year, when she appeared in Disney's "Fun and Fancy Free" the name went up to its highest number ever, 164 births.

"Buzau mountains (Romania) are metaphorically named Land of Luana, due to a legend passed over from generation to generation via the peasants in the region. Seniors say that once upon a time, in Buzau mountains there was an old and wise king, Luana, whose fortresses touched the sky. The defenders of the fortresses were brave and fought for justice, the king was healing their wounds with charmed waters from the Spring Wells’ Valley."
Luana is a Hawai'ian name meaning 'to be at leisure' and an old Germanic name meaning 'gracious warrior'. It is the name of a heroine in Romanian mythology (in other legends, it's the name of a princess).
That's true. Emma Luana Ninette Sophie is countess of Orange-Nassau. She's indeed the daughter of prince Johan-Friso of Orange-Nassau and his wife: Mabel Wisse Smit.
