Scripts 力牧(Chinese, Japanese Kanji)
Meaning & History
From a combination of the characters 力 (lì, meaning “strength”) and 牧 (mù, meaning “to herd”). In Chinese mythology this name belonged to one of the greatest retainers of the Yellow Emperor (Xuanyuan). His name comes from a dream the Yellow Emperor had about him, in which he was seen stringing a bow few had the strength to use (lì) and was shepherding thousands of cows and goats (mù). The Yellow Emperor saw this as a sign to seek the man out, and after doing so recruited him as an official. Limu went on to help the Yellow Emperor defeat Chiyou and become the inventor of the wheeled cart.
